The singing must attract the tourists 3/27/2006

The first time I went to Cold Stone at 42nd St., I waited in line for 20 minutes. Yes, it was THAT long--it went out the door. After I received my ice-cream, there was no place to sit, or even walk around for that matter. Although the ice-cream was good (I usually get the cheesecake ice-cream with strawberries), it is a little expensive. The ice-cream itself is like 6 dollars and there's an additional $2 charge if you want a special cone. There are many other places have better ice-cream than Cold Stone Creamery, but not many others have their staff sing while they are mashing fruits and nuts into your order. Note: they don't sing unless they get a tip. more

Worth the wait 3/10/2006

After three unsuccessful attempts at waiting in line here at Cold Stone (resulting in running into movies I had already bought tickets to), this Wednesday I decided to wait it out before seeing a show at the American Airlines Theatre. I spent 20 minutes in line and almost missed curtain. But I did finally get my ice cream. Instead of plain old French Vanilla, I chose the Sweet Cream and added in almonds, coconut & chocolate chips (in order to compare it to my favorite B&J flavor). It was good. But not great. And not more than $5 great. The mix-in concept is fun, but not at these prices -- your concoction may end up costing you a pretty penny. I was thoroughly annoyed by the staff singing. Not only did it bug me, but it slowed production down a bit and there was a LONG LINE waiting for ice cream. more

ICE CREAM 10/11/2005

What can I say? If you are a ice cream fan, you'll love Cold Stone. It's different compared to Ben & Jerry or Baskin Robin, they got so many topics you could choose from and so many combinations. I highly recomend Berry Berry Berry Good or A Night in White Chocolate. more
