Hit or Miss, but can be fun 10/27/2002

Club Six is hit or miss - depending on the music scene you're into. Kinky Funk is fun and so are some of the guest djs. While it's not a "hip" joint like Cloud 9 (thank god, i hate Cloud 9's staff), this place is for serious down dancing. They could have a better beer selection on tap but hey... Pros: good music Cons: need better beer more

Awesome NY-Underground Feel 10/12/2002

Club6 isn't exactly in a nice part of town, so it definitely keeps the ego's and the amateur's out. If you've been to NY this is like a club that. Total Underground feel to hang out in. Awesome bar tender Kat -- when you ask for a drink there... you get a drink. more

Owners are writing th reviews ... 10/11/2002

I think the owners are writing a lot of the positive reviews because I have been there twice and the music is boring, the location is awful, the people are uninteresting, and it is usually half empty. more

Stinky 8/15/2002

If you are a dull cheapskate then this is the place for you. The upstairs area has rank and file SF wannabe hipsters slouching around. It reminded me of every bar I walked into during college. Dirty and shabby, both the place and the people. Then you descend into the stinky, sweaty, soaking, humid cesspool that is the dance club. Down there they play the usual humdrum, boring, outdated, clichéd techno turntable nonsense. Frankly, I thought all that musical rubbish died some time ago. The dj's need to pay a visit to NYC or London to see that the world of electronica has progressed beyond 1991. more

Six is for the underground 8/6/2002

If you got the courage to brave the "wildlife" outside of Club Six then you'll truely be rewarded. Club Six is an urban oasis from the cheese balls that frequent Ruby Skye, 1015, and Cloud 9. Its got a come as you are atmosphere and every week the club has a differnet scene. The best time to go is on the 2nd Friday of the month where you'll here an electic range of music all the way from hip-hop, to house, to 2-step, electro, etc. Pros: relaxing lounge, the corridor Cons: the wildlife more

Club Scum 8/5/2002

There was a sucession of totally boring DJs who all were playing the same unimaginative trance. The upstairs was filled with bored uninteresting people. The downstairs was a sweat soaked mob of people and smoky air. Oh did I mention the place is in the middle of the worst block in San Francisco surrounded by crack fiends and prostitutes? If this is underground then I feel sorry for the clubbers of SF. Not fun. Pros: None Cons: See above more

dance fever 6/2/2002

I went to this party last week at SIX. I never make it down there because of the Tenderloin and all, but you know I really had a good time. They had some hip hop party that night and the music was really good there was this dj that was amazing some one told me his name was short cut or something, but any way he was nice. I had a great time if you can get past SIX street TL check out this party on Thursday it's like old school SF. K more

can you say loser? 5/23/2002

bartenders: LAME. as in not even close to thinking about being civil. Music can occasionally kick butt however the basement is just that and reminds me of horrible nightmare worthy frat parties on the east coast. ewwww. Oh, and if you have someone advertising a party at your club which goes until 4am, don't get up on the bar and start screaming at everyone to leave at 2am. Pros: convenient location, bums outside hail cab more

Hip Hop Love 5/22/2002

Put your hands up put your hands up. Finally I was looking for this vibe for a long time. New York in the city I went to this party call Soul Kitchen the other day and I thought I was in NYC for a minute. The DJs were awesome break-dancers doing it, fine ladies damm I even had a 40oz Yo this party was off the chain. I hope this party stays on the under, but I need to give my support. I found a new spot to kick it. Pros: Atmosphere, Music, Hip Hop culture Cons: parking more

Editorial
  • In Short
The popular Berlin concept of filling bare spaces with tattered furniture and calling it a bar is vaguely honored at this warehouse-style club. The ground-floor lounge features hardwood floors and circular vintage couches wrapped around exposed steel beams. Hard-core clubbers head for the basement, a dark and slightly cavernous dance space lined with enough couches for a people-watching conference.
