Best

I'd been wanting to try Clementine for some time, and I finally went for lunch during the week. It's cute,...

Clementine is obviously a caterer's poor attempt to provide a neighborhood eatery. With the commercial food fare in the mall, Clementine had a chance to bring something different...

A Feeling of Home 11/25/2005

First it should be noted that the menu will change with the seasons, so while a few favorites always appear, there's usually something new to try. Their Roast Beef Sandwich is a tender triumph, while their Autumn Chicken Salad is a great blend of the creamy and the fruity. Notable bakery items tend to be more buns, cakes and cookies than the golden flaky pastries. If you like crispy chocolate chip cookies, I would recommend Clementine's version. I've found generally prompt and friendly service. Limited seating, but an enjoyable, homey ambience once you sit down. The only complaint I have is that parking can be a real bother with very limited street parking. First-timers might also be warned that the construction on Santa Monica makes it difficult to find the place. Just be on the lookout for the white signs. Go after peak hours for a more enjoyable experience. Pros: Sandwiches, Bakery, Service Cons: Parking, No Sunday Hours, Limited Seating more

Fantastic - don't let anyone tell you different! 10/21/2005

We've been here three times and now and this place is so pleasant and delicous. We've tried the breakfast, some savory items and some bakery items. Everything is wonderful!!!!! Pretty busy at peak breakfast times, but the place is really convenient for an early dinner. Great staff, super nice. Such a special spot! Pros: Flavor, service, ambience Cons: busy more

love this place! 8/14/2005

I come here every so often to meet friends when I'm feeling a bit extravagant. It's pricey, but the food is great - especially the sweets. Their hot chocolate with their oversized marshmallows are to die for and their scones are some of the best I've ever had. Nicer during off hours when it's not crowded. Pros: ambiance, hot chocolate, scones Cons: pricey more

I'm feelin' the lovin' from the oven 6/12/2005

Clementine bakes some real homemade goodness. I went there for breakfast over the weekend. Had a biscuit sandwich with ham and a poached egg. The biscuits were soooo good and flakey! I was so tempted by the bakery case, I brought some scones and muffins to take home with me. Everything I've eaten there, breakfast and lunch were delicious! Can't wait to go back! Pros: Great baked goods, Delicious salads, Cute cafe Cons: difficult parking, pricey for pasteries, open limited hours more

Clementine is good but avoid the snobs 4/3/2005

Clementine has some great , tasty fresh food and bakery items (especially the butterscotch brownies!) The downside is the type of customer that frequents there are the ""typical L.A Type"" I'm in a hurry, look at me, sort of people. This can be avoided by going at off hours like 3pm. It can also get quite loud as well. Overall, it is usually worth it , it is hard to find another place that is similar unless you drive far. Pros: Good Fresh Food Cons: Snobs! more

Delightful! 3/30/2005

Eating at Clementine is like having the perfect picnic. They have an endless amount of scrummy things to choose from whether you want something savory (like the extraordinary autumn chicken salad) or something sweet (like the delectable plum buns and strawberry scones). The soups and sandwiches are all fantastic and the salad combo plate is the perfect way to sample many of their delicious items. It can get crowded so, if you're feeling claustrophobic, get something to go. more

Solid cafe 12/28/2004

Nice little ""secret"" spot that can be described as quaint and charming. The food was very tasty although portions were surprisingly small for lunch. I had to spend $20 at lunch to be at the lower end of the spectrum of contentment. $20 isn't a lot but this is counter service I'm talking about. Have to choose the right times to mull or converse over coffee and/or a pastry because things get a bit tight around mealtimes and randomly during the expected slow periods. Still, high quality stuff so worth a trip to now and then. Pros: good quality, homemade, ambiance Cons: , value more

pissy people taking your order 7/23/2004

Too crowded for the attitude. No tables, long waits, bad service. See ya! Pros: food is okay Cons: , traffic noise, no tables more

Yum... 11/5/2003

The Sloppy Joe Sandwich is ""to-die-for"". I could totally get addicted to it. ""You wait in line, order your food then find a table and they bring your food to you"" type of restaurant is sometimes nice & easy, and at busier times, difficult. They get super busy during lunchtime on the weekends, so try to get there early. Pros: Sloppy Joe, Desserts Cons: Long Lunch Lines, Limited Seating more

Don't Quit Your Day Job 5/27/2003

Clementine is obviously a caterer's poor attempt to provide a neighborhood eatery. With the commercial food fare in the mall, Clementine had a chance to bring something different to Century City. Thumb-size breakfast sandwiches for $1.50? The place may appear to be aesthetically cute and quaint, just like the food. With all the staff on hand, you think they could prepare more food? Cons: food selection, parking more

Experience the best of LA here! 2/7/2003

Clementine provides it ALL!!! From great breakfast, to unbelievable baked goods, to amazing catering, food doesn't get any better than this. I have started making Clementine a near daily routine for myself whether it's breakfast, lunch or just a snack! You won't be dissapointed! Pros: Every Food Item Cons: Limited tables more

My Mission 12/11/2002

This place has *fabulous* top-quality baked goods, and I have made it my mission to try ALL of them, one scrumptious offering (or two!!) at a time. So far, my favorites are the blueberry sour cream coffee cake muffin and the Moravian sweet bread. The sweet bread in particular is so comfortingly soft, sweet, simple, and delicious that it almost makes me want to ask the (20-something) girl behind the counter if I can call her 'Mom'! I also purchased the freshest and highest quality fruit salad that I have ever had from this place one time over the summer. They did NOT cut corners and skimp on the pricier fruits, and it made a huge difference! I will eventually get around to trying their savory items as well, as I have no doubt that they're wonderful. As of right now, though, I am in baked sweets heaven! Pros: Wonderful Baked Goods, Warm Cozy Atmosphere more

Panino! 7/29/2002

This place has good food and friendly services in a quiet neighborhood setting. I enjoy their sandwiches (mushroom panino, steak panino, and marinated tuna), chocolate chip cookies, and apricot ginger scones. Pros: food, services, location more
