Johnny Valentine + Chop Shop = Excellence 3/21/2011

I found Johnny 6 years ago, since then he has been the only person to do my hair. He really understands my hair and makes me feel good every time I have a cut. For years I've been chasing Johnny around the city and have paid the extra-buck at the expensive salon-spas where he used to work. Now I'm happy that Johnny is working at Chop Shop, where you can get your hair cut 'A la Carte', I can have the same professional service I'm accustomed to, and have it for less. The saloon looks modern, clean and nice, and the staff is courteous. Also you can park FOR FREE* in the parking lot across the street. (*weekdays before 3 p.m.) more

LOVE Johnny!!! 3/17/2011

Before Johnny I would hop around from stylist to stylist now I will never go to anyone else. Johnny is the best! I went to Johnny first for just a hair cut and it was the best cut ever, it even looked good when it started to grow out. I told Johnny about how long it took to straighten my curly frizzy hair and how I could never make it look how I wanted, he suggested the Keratin Treatment. BEST suggestion ever!!!! Now my thick curly hair is so easy to style and dries in no time...and always looks good. I have had the treatment twice now and it has been wonderful, I get soooo many compliments on what nice hair I have. I would highly suggest having Johnny be your stylist and the Keratin treatment! more

Chop Shop is for women too 2/11/2011

You see mostly men at Chop Shop, but I don't know why! I've had $150 cuts at fancy salons, and Ashley does a better job for 20 bucks. I've had my hair cut by her several times, and I always leave happy. I'm not one of those women who always knows what I want done to my hair. Ashley is patient, helpful, and always has good ideas. Try her out next time, I guarantee you'll be happy. more

I usually don't walk into a hair salon I've never been to. I rarely even get my haircut at all. I'm pretty particular about my hair.....for a guy, that is. I went to the Chop Shop and Ashley cut my hair. For somebody who looked rather young and inexperienced, I was very suprised to recieve one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I'm not from manayunk, but now I drive 25 minutes whenever I decide to let anybody near my hair. She is always very thorough with my consultation and makes sure we're on the same page with what I want. Thumbs up to Ashley and the Chop Shop. more

Top Stylist in Philly 1/27/2011

Nadine is simply the most talented stylist to ever cut my hair. Her work is always consistent and precise. Her attention to detail is unmatched.\r \r Recently my assistant asked if I was doing a photo shoot for a magazine cover after one of Nadine's spectacular cut and color masterpieces. \r \r Nadine's incredible skill with a straight razor puts even old-time barbers to shame. Now that I have experienced perfection I refuse to let anybody else touch my hair. \r \r If you are looking for a great haircut go see Nadine today, you will not be disappointed.\r \r You're the best Nadine. This girl is beyond a hairstylist. She sets you up for a whole new you. She is fashion forward and knows what's hot and what's not in the modern world. She can transform anything, like my shaggy short boys cut, into a cute trendy face framing style that I love. She died it a beautiful brassy red, just what I asked for! This girl is awesome to talk to and she really knows how to translate what you want into a bangin look especially for you. And for cheap too! Get a seat in her chair if you can, I recommend setting up an appointment. more

Ashley Kennedy is one of the best stylist i have ever had touch my head. She was very professional and knowledgeable. I am usefully scared to get my color done at a salon because it never seems to be right but she Liston to ever thing i had to say and it came out beautifully. she is a talent and i will go back as well as tell other about her. Highly Recommended 1/24/2011

I would consider myself very particular about my hair, and I am very particular about who cuts it. After my former stylist moved out of town, I bounced around from place to place, never feeling satisfied. I came into Chop Shop and had my hair cut by Johnny by chance. He listened to everything I wanted and did everything wonderfully. I have come to completely trust his judgment and sense of style; he is a very gifted stylist. He takes his time and pays attention to detail. The best part about his work is that even a month after he cuts my hair, it still looks good. With other stylists, after two weeks, it looked like my hair hadn't been cut. All that is to say I have found my new stylist. The Chop Shop is also very reasonably priced. Every time I go I feel like I'm getting a great deal. I also like Johnny because he's very easy to get in touch with and he's very accommodating. I always feel like he wants my business and that he's willing to work to get me in at a time that's convenient for me. I STRONGLY recommend that guys try Johnny out. He's really great. more

Happy Customer 12/29/2010

Finding a good hairstylist is like finding gold. With Johnny, I feel like I just hit the jack pot! When I first moved to Manayunk I made the mistake of going to an ultra expensive salon on Main Street (5th Ave.) and my hair came out awful. It was ironic that the less expensive more reasonable hair cut that Johnny gave me ended up saving my miserable locks. I was so happy with my results from Valentine this summer that I've been back twice since. He even assisted me with going red, which I have gotten complements on for months! My hair looks just as good today as it did when I got it cut over a month ago. That is my true test of a hair cut. I am definitely a highly satisfied customer :) more

So while growing up i always had big hair..u know the curls and then came the frizz.....well i went to see Johnny and he gave me the Keratin Treatment and all i can say is OMG, after washing it first thing this morning..it took me 3 yes u see that correct 3 mins to blow dry my hair..it looks awesome..and the coloring that he had done 2 weeks prior looks even better then it did prior....Johnny Valentine...will u come live with me...NO MORE BAD HAIR DAYS...I found my forever man!!! more

Put an END to your hair styling NIGHTMARES! 9/14/2010

Are you sick and tired of going to get a haircut only to have your chopped off and impossible to do after leaving the salon? Then you do need to run, not walk to the Chop Shop in Manayunk and let JOHNNY VALENTINE take care of your lovely locks!!! He's got a Hollywood name (it's real, just ask him) and he's got Hollywood SKILLS! After years of watching my lovely long locks hit the floor, I got fed up, grew it back out and let Johnny Valentine do his magic on me. His full consultation was so good, I considered it a ""counseling"" session. Johnny Valentine took the time to find out what I wanted my hair to look like, how much time I could afford to spend on my hair and God bless him or listening to all of the hair horror stories. After coloring my hair, Johnny's styling magic began. I didn't see my hair flying to the ground, I saw my hair COME TO LIFE! My new do is long, weightless, sexy, age appropriate, easy to care for and 100% up to date. You should expect to be educated about how to take care of your hair after you leave the salon. Be sure to let him know which products you use so he can show you how to use them and recommend other product that will complement what you have. I've been getting cuts from Johnny for years and years now because nobody else understands how to strike the right balance of trendy and classic, professional and fun. \r \r Johnny is the only stylist I've ever had who takes the time to work with the idiosyncrasies of my to create a style that looks amazing for weeks after. He actually creates a look your head and hair can handle and that makes you look fresh and cool.\r \r Do yourself a favor and have Johnny cut your hair. I've been in search for the perfect person to cut my hair just the way I like it, and finally found Johnny Valentine after having lived in Philadelphia for my whole life and never being able to find someone! He listens to exactly what you're looking for and delivers every single time. You know when you ask for a trim and a hairdresser cuts your hair much shorter than you want it? Not with Johnny! He seems to know just how to cut hair according to the texture of your hair so that it grows out nicely too. He also has great styling tips and suggestions. I've been going to Johnny for over a year now and have zero regrets. If you want a great cut, this is your guy! more

I came into the Chop Shop hoping that I could get the haircut that I have wanted back ever since it grew out. I couldn't seem to get anyone to replicate the haircut I had and I was becoming frustrated. Cindy Woodham was my hairdresser and after receiving not only an amazing dye job, I walked out happier than ever because I finally got the most amazing and exact haircut I have wanted for years! Johnny Valentine, the BEST 8/26/2010

Johnny has done my hair for the past three years. I moved to Philly four years ago and had a hard time finding a good stylist until I met Johnny, and I have never been to anyone else since! He is a great conversationalist and he makes sure that I am never bored while I'm getting my hair done. He has also done the brazilian keratin treatment on my hair and I LOVED it! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to find a new stylist! more
