Great workout without treadmills or stationary bikes! 11/13/2008

Classes are fun, though a space is a little tight. You can get a well-rounded workout (I found muscles I didn't know I had) without ever getting bored. I did the gym thing for a while, and even tried free weights. Both became a boring routine after just a few months. This workout builds lean muscle, so if you are looking to bulk up, you may have to supplement. It also works my brain, which is perfect for anyone who is concerned with dimensia or alzheimers. And don't worry, this is not a military style martial art. Though if you prefer a drill sergeant, you won't be happy as classes are pretty casual, which is perfect if you need to get there late or leave early at times. Pros: decent price, fun workout, adult oriented Cons: facility is small so some days it fills up and can be hard to move more

Amazing art, extraordinary people 2/20/2008

Most diversity ever seen in an art, and it is all based on traditional Shaolin Kung Fu. We learn internal and external, with an emphasis on blending them rather than keeping them separate. The instructor has been studying the art for 10 years, and can trace the liniage all the way back to the Grandmaster at the temple southern China in the 1800's, long before the Communists destroyed all semblance of real martial arts.\r \r The students this attracts are great, too. They come from all walks of life and ages range from 16 to mid-60's. (The school does not have children's classes, which is great for adults.) You don't have to be in good shape to start, and don't need to know a thing about martial arts. I would not recommend this if you are looking for tournament fighting as the instructor discourages it and the art is designed for self defense, which means most of our moves are illegal in tournaments anyway. \r \r If you are looking for a fun way to get in shape, learn self defense or meditation, or even brush up on Chinese culture, I can't think of a better place to go. Pros: Small classes. Only black belts teach lower levels. Lots of diversity within the art Cons: Not enough parking more
