Childrens Garden Preschool INC

My son has attended the Children's Garden preschool since 2012, and I have been extremely pleased with the school and the teachers. As mentioned in a previous review, the curriculum is Waldorf inspired and therefore extremely different from a traditional academic setting. As an educator in a traditional school setting it was at first difficult to grasp the concept of Waldorf; however after much research, which I believe is every parents responsibility, I was able to see the benefit of this type of learning and even more so as I watched my son thrive from being there. \r My son's teachers inclusive of Sally, the director, who taught my son in summer camp, are very gentle while maintaining high expectations for him. I have observed that he is more thoughtful in action, creative in play, and mindful of others. \r \r The school does not teach concepts such as letters, and numbers, but as research suggests learning at this age, 3 ,occurs best through play, peer interaction and modeling from teacher figures. I firmly believe that learning is not the sole responsibility of teachers but should begin at home; therefore if it is desired to have your children learn traditional curriculum why not begin at home?\r \r My only suggestion would be to allow parents to observe their children in the classroom setting or at play other than that I highly recommend The Children's Garden as an alternative to tradition preschool education. more

My youngest attended this preschool many years ago. He is now in middle school. Throughout the years his teachers have commented on his creativity, empathy, personal responsibility, and respect. I credit The Children's Garden Preschool for supporting these traits and helping educate me so I could continue to support growth in these areas. \r \r Any school can hand out worksheets, but to teach children confidence, respect for others and the world, empathy and creativity is exceptional. I am looking at the long view and the hard work we did when he was young has most certainly paid off. more

A treasure to our daughter and our entire family.\r \r I am deeply grateful to have discovered such a caring, creative, and conscious preschool for my child. She was in a traditional style preschool bombarded with bright letters and numbers and media on nearly every available wall space. TCG's serene, natural environment with sing-song affirming direction fit our child and family very well. Our withdrawn and overwhelmed girl blossomed into a self-confident, assertive, and happy kid! She is beginning kindergarten now after 3 years at TCG able to make her way through letters, numbers, and peer interactions with explorative ease. \r \r Thank you TCG! We are so glad we gave our daughter the gift of this school and its attentiveness to the WHOLE child--head, heart, and hands. We look forward to our twin boys benefitting from the experience as well when they grow a bit more:) more
