Great Modern Thai 1/24/2007

Chadaka blends a very laid-back, chill atmosphere with food so good you'll forget you're dining in the Valley. It's not fusion, but more of a modern take on traditional Thai--slightly upscale, but reasonably priced. Highlights include the Crying Tiger, thinkly sliced steak with a tangy citrus sauce, the Siam pork chop and the roast duck. Other standard Thai fare such as curries, coconut curry soups, vegetarian dishes and seafood are also quite good. Ask for the brown rice with your meal; as odd as it sounds it's exceptional.\r Chadaka also features a full bar, lunch specials and happy hour drink and food specials. During the week, there's adequate parking in nearby garages or even on San Fernando Blvd., but on weekends parking can be a pain and there's no valet. Pros: Food, small patio seating, bar, ambience, interior design, food, family-friendly, chill without leaving the Valley Cons: Weekend parking more

a definite happy hour place 1/10/2007

the great thing about this place is that as pretty as it is, it did not abandon the authentic flavors most dolled up asian places seem to go for. at least you know that you are really paying for food here, not for ambiance upkeep alone. their appetizers are all good, it breaks my heart not to go there for happy hour. service is great too! parking? are you kidding me? this is in burbank! wear your walking shoes! Pros: happy hour menu Cons: seating... too close, too cramped... the person sitting right next to me acutally belongs to another party! more

great ambience, good food, beautiful presentation of food. 11/14/2006

this is a beautiful restaurant. everything is modern asian and warm/dark colors. the food was great. it was tasty. they have smaller plates compared to most thai restaurants that i've been to, but the food was delicious. the presentation of the different dishes is great too. more

very good thai 11/10/2006

I went here for a business lunch. We got there around noon and we were quickly seated. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; the decore is very pretty. I got a thai ice (very good!) and some Tom Kha, which I love. I felt the size was a little bit too small for my appetite, but I had some white rice with it. The food came out very quickly. The staff was very nice and we were constantly waited on. I'd definately return. Pros: convention spot Cons: can be crowded at lunch more

Awesome Thai! 10/27/2006

I'm not usually sold very easily on Thai food but this restaurant is great! Really great ambiance and the food is awesome. I highly recommend it, it's my favorite Thai restaurant. The Lunch specials are a great deal also. Pros: Great lunch Specials. more

Average tasting, overpriced for the quality 10/19/2006

Ordered the hot & sour soup which was decent & the massaman curry which was not the greatest flavor but the beef was tender, think they were short ribs. Small portions for the price. more

good thai in burbank 10/17/2006

we had lunch there recently and found the place to ne not bad. the decor is modern and interesting. the place wasn't very crowded during the day, and the service was decent. we had the shrimp pad thai, which was well made. pasta wasnt overcooked as in some places. the other dish we tried was the pad woon-sen with shrimp. the noodles on that dish WERE overcooked and it was a bit disappointing. overall, it's not bad for burbank, but i can't say that it's anything stellar. more

great thai food! 9/27/2006

I don't make it to Burbank that often but after eating at Chadaka last night I will be back soon! The food was so good and the prices were great. Someone here had mentioned the prices being different then on their website but I didn't find that to be the case. The only thing I didn't like was their sodas. Worst Sprite and Diet Coke ever, esp. for $3.00 a pop. I""ll skip the soda next time and opt for one of their many cocktails. We started with Chicken Satay that was moist and yummy, Beef Waterfall that was seriously DELICIOUS. Our entree was Pad Thai that was so good and Pineapple Fried Rice which was also wonderful but could have used just a little more pizazz for my taste but my 3 year old was very pleased! The service was great, they were super friendly! Great find for Burbank! Pros: great decor, music, food and service Cons: location (I'm not big on Burbank!) more

A Lovely, Cool and Hip place 9/8/2006

I Loved this place, If you are in downtown Burbank for dinner and a Movie this is the best place to go. \r Good food, perfect service, full bar, calming with music. Pros: open late Cons: I can't think of any more

Ambiance great... 9/7/2006

I went with a group of 10 for a b/d party, service was good, attentive. A bit slow at the end to get the check to us. The Beef Waterfall and Lynchee Martini were tasty! I had read other reviews before going; I liked it, but I didn't love it. But I am willing to go back and give them another try. It is a nice little space, you do forget you're in Burbank for just a moment. more

Lovely evening in Downtown Burbank 8/31/2006

Chadaka Thai does so many things well, it's hard to know where to start. Unlike the previous reviewer, I found the food quite tasty and the service was adequate. Parking can be a bear in The Media Center, but it's free...can't complain too much. The bar and the restaurant are beautiful. The presentation and quality of food is second to none among Thai Restaurants. Everyone is always saying goto Thai Town for traditional Thai Cooking. Believe me, I've been to Thai Town. If you want poor service, bad quality meats & a dirty environment - Thai Town is for you. Did I mention MSG - it's all over Thai Town. Tasty yes, but it will - HEALTYH, NO! Pros: FOOD FOOD FOOD more

SO HAPPY... 8/7/2006

I bought a place in burbank. The real estate market made me some money and Chadaka Thai opened in The Media Center. Right between Starbucks and Coffee Bean, In the space formerly occupied by Fatburger. Chadaka Thai is what makes going out to eat a pleasure. Great service, delicious food and a drop dead gorgeous restaurant. Try the Beef Waterfall and the Curry dumplings. Full bar, with a wide variety of specialty cocktails. more

Over rated!! 8/6/2006

The food is not that original, and the spices almost were the same for the couple of soups that I've tried. more

Great ambience and service. Cocktails were fantastic. 8/5/2006

Ambience and wait staff were great. Food, however, was terrible. Everthing was too salty, especially the duck salad and panang. Pros: Ambience, Service, Cocktails Cons: Salty Food more

Hip and Elegant 7/7/2006

If you feel like a special night out, and want Thai food that rocks, check this place out. Starting with the ambiance, it's an architectural and design masterpiece. I couldn't help but stare at all the hip and elegant details everywhere I looked. The bar in particular is amazing. \r \r The service was friendly and inviting. Staff seemed happy to be there. Young and hip and well dressed.\r \r There were some very fun and interesting drinks and dishes on the menu including creative takes on traditional Thai cuisine. The food was well done and elegantly presented. The details were attended to nicely.\r \r I had a great time. It's a great place to bring a date, then walk around to see some shops or catch a movie.\r \r Pros: Ambience, food, design Cons: Parking more

Annoying experience 7/6/2006

We came in for lunch at 11:30 and the place was still very empty; in fact, we were the first customers (there were 2 of us). A waitress greeted us; and, as the place was empty, I walked toward a table that was beside the glass door which happened to be a table for four. She immediately told us that we can't sit there because that is for a 4-people table; so I mumbled something like 'oh yeah, its very crowded'. I was just shocked and irked that she would not allow us to sit there. My pad thai was a little bit on the sweet side. the food is not outstanding - it is good, don't get me wrong. I am also Asian and I had better thai food. (P.S. I also had a bad service experience last Valentine's day). Pros: Ambience, bar area Cons: Bad service, not friendly more

A Hidden Treasure 6/22/2006

This opened recently and is a new burbank treasure! The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. The food has lots of flavor. There are many thai options that I have never heard of before. I had the lamb curry stew and it was really tasty, huge chunks of meat! You get a lot for your money and the atmosphere doesn't seem like san fernando road. Pros: ambience, food more

Great bar. 6/7/2006

An all glass 1/2 circle bar glows white as a glowing blue Buddha looks down. Martini's flow with a large selection of Vodka. Beers aren't forgotten, 20 or so from all reaches of the world. My favorite, Hoegarden (Belgium). The Mango Mojito is quite good also. The food is high quality and from 4 - 7 M-F there's a happy hour. more

Very Good. 6/6/2006

I liked Chadaka. The food was good. Service was nice. The decor was well thought out. I'll be back soon more

Great place for burbank 6/4/2006

Given that the san fernando strip on burbank doesn't have a lot of unique places, this offers a nice modern decor at a reasonable price. At least you don't feel like it is p.f. chang or california pizza kitchen. Easily a crowd pleaser, this is a good place for business lunch or a nice dinner. If you want to go with a group over 4 people, I would suggest making reservations, since it is not a big space. But of course, if you are an authentic thai food snob, this is not the place for you. more
