This is the finest Scilian restaurant I've ever known. Every appetizer, entree, desert... all are par excellante! Have been a customer for decades and never fails in any way. The owner is personally curious to your dining experience, the wait staff are superb, the food - ooh lala! Miss them from the original location - but the food has not changed. This is not a mere ""cook""... this is an award winning chef - world wide. A total pleasure and has been a total pleasure. Have taken friends, customers... and all come away with raving revues. I'll take Carlos' creations than anyone's in town! Superb! Everything is superb.! Love ya! more

Casalinga has been reborn...Carlo now runs Casa San Carlo in N. Raleigh (Falls of Neuse and Durant). We checked it out this week and the Casalinga that we missed so much is alive and well in a new location. Enjoy it Casalinga lovers! more

I have only had wonderful experiences at Casalinga. Old world Northern Italy cuisine with a great ambiance! I didn't realize that it may be closed, according to another tip. I plan to eat there for Valentines if it's still open! more

Casalinga is closed. There are signs in the windows from Wake County Sheriff stating the business is permanently closed and to contact the landlord if there are any questions. I've heard that they hadn't paid their rent in several months, but don't know that for sure...although there aren't too many other reasons you'll see a note from the Sheriff on a locked up business... more

4/5/2012 @ Laura.......Manny is no longer there anymore. Josephine has never been seen in the kitchen cooking ever since she took over. I was there eating a few Saturdays' ago and discovered she was no where around. Actually, the staff said she was in NY. How can you be in NY and run a business let alone be the cook? more

Excellent 5/2/2012

This was my first experience at Casalinga's and it was wonderful. I enjoyed linguini with shrimp, clams, calamari, mussels, and scungeli, it was delicious, generous portion , could have used a little more sauce. The pasta was done perfectly. The breads were cripsy and great for dipping, The tossed salad was fresh and plentiful. I would say the prices were reasonable considering the portion sizes and qualityof the food. One of my favorite things though was the music!! It was the music I grew up iwith in an Italain family. Although deceased I could hear my Dad singing along with Dean Martin and I with Connie Francis, I had not heard Ol sol a mio in years but It brought memories of the big wind up victrola in our basement where we would play all the Italain music on Sunday afternoons while pot of sauce simmered on the stove. My only complaint was I found it to be a bit too dark inside which made it difficult for me ot read the menu. Our waiter was wonderful. He was attentive but not overly so! A wonderful time was had by all !!Between good food, the wonderful music and my two friends it was a perfect evening!! more

NOT WORTH THE TRIP!!!!!! 4/11/2012

Haven't been back since the change in management. Was really looking forward since seeing all the positive reviews. We were severely disappointed!! The food on the buffet had no flavor. Everything was really watery. when I asked about Carlo the woman who claimed to be the owner suddenly became very cold and angry. Although the servers were friendly, We won't be back. Looking back, it seems like all those positive reviews were written by the same person. Such a shame because we really liked this place when Carlo was here and now its just not the same. more

All Customers, Please Go Back!! JOSEPHINE IS IN CHARGE!! 4/5/2012

This place is better than ever, with Josephine and Manny running it, if you felt uncomfortable in the past but loved the food , it's ok now, go back and you will have a pleasent experience with no harrasment! Food is better than ever and the gracious hostess.. Josephine and owner will welcome you with open arms and her sidekick Manny is always the best. Best linguini w/ white clam sauce and the hot spinach salad is outta this world. Now a very comfortable environment..you will feel at home in this amazing place of good food and great atmosphere. more

Great Italian Food 3/10/2012

By far the best Italian restaurant I have visited. I used to live in St. Louis where ""The Hill"" is known for great Italian food and this place would have no problem competing with thier best. Would highly recommend! more

The Triangle's BEST.ITALIAN.FOOD! 2/17/2012

This place is remarkable. In my opinion, it competes with the best Italian restaurants anywhere (better than Michael's in Apex). If you want true, down home Italian meals, then this is the place to eat. The service is impeccable, the food is almost all made from scratch in-house, and the dessert oh-my-god! Some of the best Tiramisu you will ever taste. I went to Casalinga for lunch one day, and on the lunch buffet were fresh made, piping hot dishes, even included pizza! I'm talking meatballs, chicken parm, chicken scalipini, pastas, cold pastas...all made from scratch! After that lunch, I've been going there ever since. I even held a corporate lunch function there that went off with a bang. The friendly staff took care of my clients like they were their own. I would definitely recommend this place for all meals, from lunch to dinner, for corporate functions, to wedding rehearsal dinners, this place is great. I also just found out that they started doing wine and dinner tastings on Wednesday nights! Something I most definitely will have to check out in the near future. If you enjoy Italian food the way it was intended to be made, then this is Raleigh's only option! more

Excellent 1/22/2012

In regards to previous post....I had quite the opposite happen. I had several bad experiences just like that when the old owner was there. He was always yelling at someone and blamed his cook when my meal came out wrong instead of trying to make it right. He didn't even offer an app or anything. I thought he was some big deal chef and that HE was the cook. That's what he had told us before. Not sure but I just went back a month or so ago and it was a really pleasant experience. The meal and desserts were awesome - we were given complimentary tiramisu. The person that created the recipes is actually in charge again. I'm very pleased the other dude isn't there anymore. more

OMG!!!!! The best food ive ever had!!! 1/17/2012

I went to casalinga for the first time this past weekend and it was phenomenal!!!!! First, the owner Josephine greeted and sat us in a beautiful back room with an amazing marble topped bar in the entry way and gorgeous decor in the private dining room. Second, our server Blake had an amazing smile and knowledge of wine, the entire menu, and history of the restaurant, not to mention unbelievable treatment. It was my families first time there and we felt like we were part of the casalinga family! Can't wait to go back!!!! more

Amazing food and service!!!! 1/17/2012

I finally made it back to casalinga for the lunch buffet after a couple years in culinary school and it's better then ever! The food was fantastic! Mussels marinara, spaghetti carbonarra, penne ala vodka, eggplant parm, chicken casalinga, pizza, Stromboli, salad bar you name it... They got it!!!! And the best thing ever... My girlfriend went to the bathroom and I didn't have to watch the owner obviously check her out and make crude gestures!!!!!( aka last experience with ""don"" Carlo. Which I found through my new culinary connections that he never attended culinary school and the menu is from Josephines family recipes. Thank god the real owner is back and the same chefs Eric and Victor are still rocking out like the past 8 years!!!! Still the best Italian food in Raleigh!!!!!!!! more

Really Good Food!! 1/4/2012

I love Casalinga! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is sophisticated, the staff are friendly and professional. I have never had a bad dining experience at Casalinga. Josephine is warm and attempts to greet every customer who comes in. I love when she adds her old family recipes to the daily menu....so good!! Live music on occasion is a nice touch and adds to the overall dining experience as well. If you want good authentic Italian food, go to Casalinga, you will not regret it. more

Casalinga is back from the dead 12/21/2011

It is amazing every single time I go in. Don't go in expecting to run right out. This is a place where you are going to want to take your time. Savor the great cooking. I recently was there for a Christmas party for my office. Everyone was so happy. It was a first for all of them and they all, 14, plan on returning. DON""T take my word for it, go in. Josephine is wonderful and will make you feel like you are part of the family. I know I feel that way each and every time I return. Going back again tonight to see Santa. more

What's Happened to Casalinga? 12/19/2011

Visited Casalinga last Saturday evening. Was most dissapointed! First was placed with my wife & son in the back room with two tables of 12, Plus with screaming children. Then ordered clams Oraganato. The bread crumbs were burned, clams dried out. Then the entre of Blue Crab ravioli came and the sauce tasted like it was out of a Food Lion Jar! What has happened to the great food I used to enjoy. The place seemed more like a toomb rather than the old Casalinga. Will not return. more

Best Italian in the Triangle! 6/8/2011

Carlo – thank-you very much for the attention you showed our group recently. The food was delicious and the family style you prepared was over the top! You run a great restaurant. We always refer people to your restaurant and they all love it! Thank-you again for the hospitality! more
