The only place I trust with my camera equipment! 3/6/2012

I originally found Mike (aka the Camera Tech) well over a decade ago when my old Nikon N70 shorted out on Christmas morning. I went back and forth on whether or not to fix it or replace it, but I really did love the body (yeah, I was one of the few that actually did like the N70) so I decided that as long as the repair was reasonable, I would have it fixed. I went to my local Mom & Pop camera shop and they referred me to Mike. Pros: null Cons: null more

Terrible consumer experience. 12/29/2010

Mike, the owner, does not guarantee his work at all, which means that consumers pay him and just hope the equipment comes back fixed. I was called "crazy" and "poppycock," and Mike threatened to call police within first few minutes of our conversation despite my calm demeanor and professional attitude. He later offered to fix the problem again, but as I explained to him, I had already paid him to fix it the first time and I did not believe he could get the job done, so I requested a refund. He also said that he believed I could have broken the camera again on my own and that I could have been lying. At the end, I offered to accept even a partial refund of $45 since he honestly tried to fix it, but failed. \r \r When I was rebuffed, I went home and after thinking I decided to call him and give him one last chance to make things right before I made the issue public. I have known and worked with Mike for nearly 30 years, He did all of the repair work for me when I owned a camera shop and photo lab. He is extremely knowledgable and as fair as anyone I have ever met. I always tell people that Mike is a great Mechanic, but lacks a bit on cleanliness. Nobody can fix everything and there are no parts for a lot of the older cameras, but out of all the repairmen I have worked with he is the best. more
