AVOID this place. Really pathetic business and shady work. They will make you go to the shop 5 times a week and will not have done anything they said they will do. The guy working at the fry rd location is rude and disrespectful. I could write a 5 page review on why not to go, but in brief words, stay out of here. Go somewhere else if you want professional people and a professional job. more

I had brought my Chevy Silverado Crew cab to CJ Sounds before... So I thought I would let them do some work on my fully built 2003 Evo... My most important thing was not to damage anything. I had put a lot of money into this car and was very concerned about letting anyone work on it. They did a great job... So a couple months ago I bought a Lotus Exige. It's a mint 2006 with only 10K miles on it. Lotus only made 300 of these cars worldwide. I brought the car by another shop for a quote (that had Lambos and Ferraris posted all over their website) and they didn't even want to touch my Lotus.\r \r The factory Blaupunkt stereo system was dated... I wanted a new stereo with back up camera, new speakers and an amp and subwoofer. This car is extremely difficult to work in. Pristine on the inside and very small. The battery and engine are in the back of the car and it doesn't have a traditional frame. Just an aluminum tub. There are very few places to run wires. The install guys had to be very clever on where to place components and how to power them. \r \r I must say that the system sounds amazing. The speakers even match the car colors... black and silver... which was an unexpected surprise. AND they even gave me a ride to work after I dropped the car off!\r \r CJ Sounds will be my go to shop for all my sound and security needs from now on.\r \r Thanks guys! more

Went in to get our 97 Custom Van updated and get the Vcr and Tv taken out. We went with a 24"" Led tv, Sony dvd player, and new radio. We were very impressed at the attention to detail that the installers put into the job. They made a new plate for the brackets to mount to, new bezel for the dvd player and the job came out amazing! We can now travel with the family and keep everyone entertained the whole trip. We will be going back to have an alarm and tint put in next month. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good job. more

This is the third receiver that CJ Sounds has installed, and they do so at a fair price, excellent quality, and in a timely fashion.\r I plan to go for an alarm system, and they have a great selection to choose from. more

I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. I received an estimate from Kevin for the following to be installed, along with other stuff: component Diamond speakers in front and diamond speakers in rear. Everything was installed in my truck, or so I thought. I recently got a new car and had everything pulled out of my truck. Lo and behold they (CJ Sounds) did not install what I paid for. They only installed one pair of Diamond speakers (in the front - not components) and some off brand in the rear. So they essentially took my money and told me they put a product in, but did not do that. In my book that is wrong. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. more

My wife and I bought a 2011 Cadillac Escalade and did not get the rear seat entertainment package due to the cost. We went into Cj Sounds Car Stereo and talked to Kevin and he explained the different options for our truck. We ended up going with a set of 9"" headrests with built in dvds, wireless head phones, a video game port and a module that allows us to work the factory navigation and dvd while the truck is in drive. I am very impressed with the quality of the products, the friendly staff and the outstanding work. I am thankful that we took our friends advice and went to Cj Sounds, we priced out a similar system at Car Toys and would have spent $1125 more! I would recommend this business to anyone that is considering getting work done to their vehicle. more

Let me clear this up for Kevins shop 5/16/2012

I have a shop next door to Cj Sounds on Gessner. They have always been a good friend and always taken care of their customers. I have even seen Kevin take customers home or to the mall! After talking to Kevin he hasn’t heard from any customer unhappy with anything that he installed. When he has customers that are unsatisfied with anything believe me they call him! Furthermore Kevin says that he did not have a customer with the name Ramon in the past 1 yr. So Ramon post a receipt online for all of the readers to see or move on and get a life. Kevin is trying to run a legitimate business and do right by the community. more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I TOOK MY CAR HERE TO GET A DUOLBLE DIN INSTALLED THINKING I WOULD BE TAKING CARE OF SEEING AS HOW I PUT OUT $650 FOR THE DOUBLE DIN AND INSTLL!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS WRONG I DONT TRUST ANYONE WITH MY VEHECLE NOW I WENT TO MY DEALERSHIP SO GET MY CLUSTER LIGHTS LOOKED AT AND THEY TELL ME MY BEZEL WONT COME OFF AND ITS GLUED ON WTF!!!!!!!!!! THE FIRST TIME AFTER THE INSTALL I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK CAUSE KEVIN TOLD ME THE BEZEL HAD TO BE SANDED DOWN WHEN ALL THEY DID WAS GLUE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SHOPS WORK MAYBE I WASNT LUCKY BUT I WOULD NOW RECOMMEND KEVIN AND CHICO ...THANK YOU KEVIN I THOUGHT I WAS GETTIING WHAT I PAIDED FOR BY COMMING TO YOU BUT APPARENTLY NOW more

1955 Chevy Bellaire 5/1/2012

After reading some of the comments I wanted to add my experience with this shop: I read the reviews online and decided to go to the store to check it out and spoke with the owner Kevin. I have a 1955 Chevy Bellaire and I came in just wanting an alarm. There staff went the extra mile making sure that the major workings of the alarm were completely hidden. The alarm works great and is even hooked up to my cell phone to alert me if my car has been tampered with. They then took pictures and brought to my attention that there was some dangerous wiring under the dash and hood that needed to be taken care of. They rewired the car and even put in a new instrument cluster. Since the first time I went in I have gone back four different times to have more work done! These guys are the real McCoy and I would recommend anyone that wants a quality job to come to CJ Sounds on Gessner. Thanks Chico and Kevin!! more

Can we quit with the games 4/10/2012

I will make this quick - We run a professional shop and work on some of the most high end cars. To see our work check out our Website cjsoundscarstereo, where we work on cars (just last week) ranging from a 1955 Chevy Bellaire to a 2010 C300 Mercedes. In this business as I have stated before you will have competition write negative reviews to make a shop look bad. So from a writer that calls him or herself Worseserviceever, I have to say get a life and do not waste our time needing to respond to these words. IF we had done any work on your car why did you not include the kind of car or exactly what work we did for you??? It is sad that all of the hard work that my family and installers have done for the community can be tarnished with someone with a computer and vendetta. Worst Service Ever!!!! 3/9/2012

I gave them one star because I did not want anyone to think I just forgot to rate them. I am going to make this short and sweet. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I had them put a radio in my car and they completely destroyed my car. After FIVE attempts to fix I will now have to take them to small claims court. Learn from my mistake. Shop around and please don't go here! more

Saved me twice 11/14/2011

When I visited Cj Sounds I was looking for Tint and a simple radar detector. I was informed of a new system that has sensors front and rear and is completely hidden. The manager told me that the system also warns you of ""Hot spots"" and has GPS location built in. I was worried that this would interfere with the factory warranty but was assured that they run their own wiring.\r Anyways the tint made my car look so much nicer and the radar detector was a great investment and has already saved me twice! I would recommend this store to anyone they had great service and the price was a little cheaper than I found elsewhere after the fact.\r Thanks, more

Awesome Sound in my Sons Truck!! 10/24/2011

I came in with my sons 99 Tacoma and had a small budget but had a list of demands from my Son. All of his friends are getting newer trucks for their birthday but this 99 Toyota Tacoma is all I could afford. So to make it up to him I agreed to put a nice ""system"" in his truck. Kevin was able to put in an alarm, amp, sub, and touch screen radio and replace all four speakers for less than 1k! Thanks guys, it sounds great! more

I have many great customers both young and old and a lot of them have left good reviews over time. \r However we have a few competitors that have it in their head that they are going to RUIN our reputation by leaving bad comments. This has been a fight since business began in the old days and continues to this day. The world is alot smaller via the internet making this practice alot easier but harder to defend.\r I assure you that we do right by every customer even if we don't get everything right the first time. I take real OFFENSE to anyone that says otherwise without real cause. Not your best choice 10/3/2011

Had them install a DVD player with inverter and game port in my truck, said it would take a couple hours. 8 hours later the inverter and game port did not work. Couple days later battery was dead. Kevin you can have your friends come post good reviews all you want, it will not change the fact that you are a CHOP SHOP. He asked me to bring it back i declined to avoid further damage. I took it to a reputable shop. They could not believe what they found. Wires everywhere broke mount\r on center console. I read the reviews on here before i took it to CJ's gave them a chance. Do youself a favor and go anywhere else. more

Amazing Service, Very Knowledgeable and willing to share it! 9/27/2011

I was looking for another shop located at the same business park where CJ Sounds is located at and couldn't find it so I went into CJ Sounds ask if they knew where it was. Kevin directed me to the proper location but while I was in I asked a few questions about my car stereo. To make a long story shorter, Kevin spent almost a half hour with me educating me on things like speaker impedance, cutoff frequencies, etc. He even when out to my car and spent some time properly calibrating my sub-woofer. How much did this cost? Not a dime! I do computer repair for a living and I try to treat all my customers fair and provide service above and beyond the competition. I rarely come across a business that does the same as I would. I will for sure be bringing all my car entrainment system needs to CJ Sounds and in the meantime I will be hitting up the 'nets and putting up positive reviews for him as well as recommending him to my customers. Any company that is willing to spend that much time with someone that wasn't even in the store to buy something and offer to help is one that knows how to do business right! My computer repair business is all word of mouth, I don't advertise at all, but treating people right and providing great service go a long way to getting new business! I hope this review helps others who may want to do business at CJ Sounds, I will be going back! more

Student not working, but they did GREAT WORK 9/17/2011

First off let me say that I had been to 2 other stereo shops the day that I came to Cj Sounds on Gessner. I had went to Best Buy, and they didn't have anything that I could afford. Then I mistakenly went to Cj Sounds in Katy and they totally tried to rip me off! They tried to sell me a radio when my car didn't need it and were rude when I told them what I could spend. So I was about to give up when a friend recommended that I go to the Cj Sounds on Gessner. After the Katy experience I said no way but he told me they are NOT THE SAME OWNER.\r I am sooo glad that I went to that store the whole atmosphere was different and the owner worked with me on a price that I could afford. Now the speakers sound great and I would recommend ANYONE to this place that wants to be treated right and not spend too much! more

NEW VETTE, AWESOME WORK!!! CHECK THEM OUT... 9/17/2011

These guys were absolutely great and greeted me at the door. I came in from reading on the Corvette forums for a single 10"" woofer and I was given a great price. Needless to say that he knew what I was looking for in a few minutes and I ended up getting a great 3 way speaker set up with custom door panels. I must admit that I was concerned about letting them do anything ""Custom"" to my car. However Kevin showed me a Trans Am they were working on and it blew me away! I RECOMMEND these guys for anyone that is looking for good advice or a good job to be done. more
