Educational and interesting 2/8/2006

This is a good place to bring your kids to at least once--for there is nothing else like it in the area. Beyond that, however, it's not spectacular. Maybe I'm just not into butterflies and bugs enough. If you have kids that are into holding "crawly see-ums" then you might rate this facility a bit higher. The Conservatory is beautiful. They also offer a birthday party package which might be a unique way to celebrate, if your kids are into that. They also host weddings there, but being in the wedding business, I can say that most of the couples I work with who check it out do not end up booking there. Butterflies may sound all romantic, but once inside, it's well...BUGGY! Go one time--it's definitely different. more

Fly, Fly Away! 2/1/2006

If you can stand a little humidity, this place is pretty fun! They have a tropical conservatory with tons of butterflies flying around! They have butterfly releases a few times a day, which is worth seeing! You can also hold a tarantula if you so desire! It is a little expensive, so that may stop you from returning again. more

Good but pricey.. 12/12/2005

It’s a world of butterflies and insects. It’s fun as well as educational. They have a nice collection of insects and they are displayed well. The best part is the butterfly section. It’s a room full of trees and flowers and the butterflies flutter around freely. You have pathways to walk through and see the butterflies. It’s a great experience to have that many butterflies fluttering around you. Overall it’s a fun place to see but it’s a bit pricey. more

Learning and Fun !! 11/17/2005

The Butterfly Pavilion is a world of insects. There are displays of insects in the different sections. The best place is the room full of trees and flowers where you find the butterflies. Pathways and bridges take you throughout. As you walk you will see a variety of butterflies. It’s great to walk in this area with 1000 butterflies fluttering around you. There is also a little nature walk area in the back where you can see the prairie dogs. Overall it’s a fun place to visit. more

Although this place is not very big, there are some really neat displays of insects and invertabrates such as sea stars and horseshoe crabs. The highlight is the large greenhouse filled with "free range" butterflies. This place is also reasonably priced for a family membership. However it is very popular for school field trips so a call ahead would be useful. more
