Brown Bookstore

Now that College Hill Books is no more, the Brown bookstore is the lone bookstore on Thayer Street. It's a good bookstore, carrying a wide selection of magazines, popular and academic titles, but it's not just a bookstore. It also carries computers in the basement, Brown paraphernalia on the main floor, and upstairs has textbooks, school supplies, student dorm necessities (posters, cds, alarm clocks and bulletin boards), snacks, toiletries, and household items (bleach, dishpans). I like to go in there and browse the books. It might not have exactly the travel book or cookbook you were searching for, but it will have something interesting to read, and they can order books for you if you must have something that's not in stock. Meanwhile, if I need something that's not a book, they may already have that in stock upstairs. more

Located on College Hill, this bookstore has almost all types of genres you can imagine. Although the selection might be limited because of its size, the bookstore is bright, airy, and offers its patrons several couches where they can sit and read. The bookstore has three levels. In the basement level, there are computer supplies and services where you can buy a new computer or give your own computer a tune-up. On the ground level, novels, fictions, and many popular literatures can be found. The 2nd floor level caters mostly to college students with many textbooks, school supplies, and some literatures. more

the brown bookstore is a fully functioning bookstore in addition to selling textbooks to brown students. it is also the only retailer that offers brown apparel, which also allows it to charge and arm and a leg for even a brown t-shirt. also sells school supplies random snackfoods, calendars, cds, dvds, computer supplies, and the like. more

This is the place to go for all Brown paraphernalia - tshirts, sweaters, frisbees, mugs, hats, keychains, postcards, etc. It's the only place you can get something with the Brown logo. And as you'd expect, it's all expensive, but what other way will you be able to show off that you're the proud parent/grandparent of a Brown kid? Or that you're a student or alum? There are of course textbooks here that are overpriced, but convenient if you don't feel like searching online for much cheaper used books (hint, hint). If you're in need of decorating your dorm or need some basic hygenic stuff, you can get it all here. School supplies with Brown logos can be found here as well. This store pretty much has everything you need, but beware of way overpriced items. more

The Brown Bookstore is a great place to go for more than just college textbooks. The basement is great for anyone who is having a problem with their computer, or just needs some computer supplies. The main floor has a great selection of reading material, and the top floor has all the textbooks you will need, as well as DVDs and dormroom supplies you will need. Textbooks are on the expensive side, just like everywhere else. more
