Being a patient of this practice for several years, I thought nothing of referring my fiance to their practice to become established with a PCP. He and I both work in healthcare ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/25/2013

In January 2013 I saw my Dr, Jill Porter @ the Brackin-Porter Family Medicine center in Columbus, OH. I asked that I had been seen for my yearly exam, and also had some concerns about a letter they sent me regarding my liver enzymes over 1 year ago. I specifically asked to have a yearly physical exam done, with the same blood draw as previously performed; to see where my enzyme levels were at. From what I knew this was the agreement between my doctor and I. I know that if I had gone in and only requested a physical, I would have gotten the results I wanted from the blood work. I started receiving bills from LabCorp, in which I brought to the attention of Dr Porter during MULTIPLE visits. I can say I spoke with her in person in January, March, April and possibly more times than that. She told me I would need to contact LabCorp, and ""they would fix everything."" Dr Porter also verbally affirmed multiple times that she knew I wanted to simply have my ROUTINE exam done. \r \r After going through the hoops for months with Dr Porter, I finally did contact LabCorp's customer service department on 6/15 & 6/17 of 2013. On 6/15, Cheryl L of LabCorp seemed very eager to assist me, placed my account on a ""courtesy hold"" while they researched further, and also recommended I got in touch with Dr Porter again. On 6/17 Cheryl L of LabCorp responded again and advised they were not allowed to request a new diagnosis code from my physician; however as a courtesy they contacted Dr Porter to at least verify this information. Cheryl explained that a voicemail was left for Dr. Porter and that they would resubmit the code if a new one was provided. She recommended again that I spoke with Dr. Porter. \r \r At this point I awaited a further response from LabCorp or Dr. Porter, but I heard nothing. The LabCorp bills stopped arriving so I assumed the matter was resolved. I then in August 2013 received the same bill and amount, as if nothing had happened. I contacted Cheryl L again and thanked her for not following up with me and just sending me another invoice instead. I received zero communication from either Dr Porter or LabCorp, just another bill. \r \r I then received a call from Dr Porter's medical assistant, and she asked that I brought in a written letter describing my situation; and that they would contact LabCorp and have it handled. About weeks went by and Dr Porter's medical assistant told me ""We know what you thought you asked for, but unfortunately Dr Porter interpreted things differently, so you will have to pay this bill."" I was upset and mentioned Dr. Porter possibly losing a patient over 75, dollars... They then disconnected the call and mailed me a letter immediately saying I requested to not be a patient and have been removed as a patient! I made no such request, she just terminated our relationship 4 days before I needed an important medical refill. That's right, she just left me with out my Rx and with no Doctor.\r \r Dr. Porter is a spineless and passive aggressive LIAR! When you express your concerns in person she will bat her eyelashes and tell you what you want, but in reality she has no intentions of helping you at all. She will leave you high and dry if you attempt to in any way question how they billed you either. HORRIBLE DOCTOR.\r \r Again the question I ask myself is ""If I walked in and simply asked for a physical, would I be in this situation, and would you have gotten the blood results you wanted?"" No I wouldn't, and yes I would have. more

Not how patients should be treated 5/19/2010

Being a patient of this practice for several years, I thought nothing of referring my fiance to their practice to become established with a PCP. He and I both work in healthcare and see patients everyday. We know how the system works. When we had a staffing issue at the hospital and had to cover late patients we called to (not cancel- but RESCHEDULE) and were told he would not be able to be seen in that practice until he paid a $50.00 no show fee. NO EXCEPTIONS. After having a war of words with the secretary, she put the doctor on the phone who announced herself as the OWNER of the practice (seriously? c'mon - unnecessary). I was spoken to as a 12 year old and told that it didn't matter if we too had patient's to see there were no appointments scheduled arter 3:30pm and if we weren't keeping the appointment, we would be billed $50.00 for their time! He went to the appointment after rearranging 12 patients of his own so we didn't get billed. (what about our time??) Now everytime I go there, I have waited between 1 and 2 hours to be seen even when I arrive early for my appointment. I expect a wait - I'm in healthcare afterall, and I never say anything because I know how it can be. But after this episode my fiance AND myself will be finding another doctor. It's Ridiculous! If we treated our patients like that, we wouldn't have any patients to see. Pros: Pleasant MD's Cons: Let me count the ways. more

Not the practice it used to be. 9/18/2009
