Best

Great diner food...a tad busy, especially on Sunday, but I guess that's a good sign overall!

Worst

Went for the 1st time the other morning. I had heard great thing and have driven by many times. I would have to say I was a little disapointed in the food. My omelet was dry and t...

Disappointed 9/1/2004

Word of mouth was good, so... 1st -lunch-crowded, service incredibly slow, food OK, nothing I would order again. 2nd-dinner with family-not crowded, service still incredbly slow, food cold, bland 3rd- breakfast-crowded, service slow, food-eggs how can you screw uo eggs? I may go back for breakfast, but never lunch or dinner more

whats not to like 8/29/2004

The place is fun. It won best breakfast because food is seriously amazing. Its way better than whats expected from a diner. The ladies working there are super nice. They seem to have the mix of everything, the older experienced servers mixed with young hip college students. The place is simple and unprotentious and once you try it, it definetly keeps calling you back. I recomend it to all my friends and coworkers. Pros: good food, good service, good atmosphere more

Love this place 7/23/2004

We love the Blue Plate Diner. It's one of the only places to find good Iron Port. The food's decent and above average for a cafe. They have a really good variety of choices that meets any craving. Pros: Food, Iron Port, variety Cons: , air cond. vents more

Poor man's Ruth's Diner 4/18/2004

In a word, this place is cool. The food is commendable, the value is nice and the atmosphere is fun. Sure the eggs are eggs--nothing too life altering or anything like that, but come on, it's a diner. But they are no different than the eggs served at Over the Counter, nor do they taste any less good at Blue plate. The service is fine--the young ladies are all very friendly and work hard for you. Overall it's a place as advertised: diner styled food. And when the mood calls for it, I like it. Pros: good diner food, friendly service more

The Blues 12/5/2002

The service was horrible, the food was very late (about 45 minutes), cold, and not even very good when it finally got there. If you really want cheap good breakfast eats, I'd try Over the Counter instead. Pros: Patio seating Cons: No Parking more

Custom order it! 11/11/2002

The ambience of this tiny place was fun and eclectic, 60's diner meets modern art! We waited a while to be seated, but it was worth the wait! From the time we sat down until we got our food was less than 10 minutes! I made a custom order of the Eggs Benedict w/ mushrooms, tomato, and avocado. I am drooling just thinkin about it, the Hollandaise was perfect. Mmmmmmmmmmm........ Pros: Friendly, Inexpensive, Delicious Cons: long wait to sit more

Not even in the top 100 11/4/2002

This restaurant was recommended to me as a good place to eat. I was totally dissapointed in the food and the service. The food was cold, poorly prepared and tasteless. The waitress was young and very unprofessional. The overall food selection was not anything to write home about either. I was told that I must have caught it on an off night. So I tried it the second time. Same service and same lousy food! I won't do it again. more

Just OK! 10/11/2002

Went for the 1st time the other morning. I had heard great thing and have driven by many times. I would have to say I was a little disapointed in the food. My omelet was dry and tasteless, my son's waffle was way over cooked and dry and my wife's huevos ranchero were not very good. The coffee was very weak and unsatisfying which suprised me knowing that they also run the coffee house next door. On the positive side, service was efficient and friendly and I do like the atmosphere. I will try again as maybe I caugt the kitchen on an off day. Pros: Location, Service, Decor Cons: Food, Coffee more

sunday breakfast, baby! 10/3/2002

there is always a wait, but it is such a great, trendy little diner for sunday breakfast. just show up, have patience, and you'll have a great breakfast for a reasonable price. more

Best Breakfast Experience Yet 8/26/2002

Great food with great prices. The atmosphere is also a plus...outdoor seating...laidback. Best breakfast experience I've had in SLC yet! more

Great breakfast and diner food 7/24/2002

While I hate to label anything ""the best ___ in town"", I highly recommend Blue Plate Diner for breakfast. The daily (M-Fri) all-you-can-eat specials are enormous- perfect for hungry diners. Other entrees are also served with a wedge of fruit and home fries. We usually go for breakfast, but have been in for lunch and dinner (also with ayce) and usually order off the menu. The ingredients are always fresh. The banana splits and shakes look tasty. This place is a crowd pleaser. Pros: Great food, A good value Cons: Crowded more

Fluffy omelets right here! 7/22/2002

Breakfast at Blue Plate has always been a treat for us. Weve been there pretty frequentlypartly because its close to home and mainly because of the fare, some of which have a little upscale twist. Some great attractions for the stomach are their daily all-you-can-eat specials, which are usually less than $10. My wife tried some hotcakes one daywith endless fruit and home fries. I had ordered their generously-stuffed salmon and avocado frittata and was full by the second plate. Other recommended plates include their breakfast burrito, and a great selection of fluffy omelets. Their outdoor patio is a wonderful hangout, with comfortable settings and canopy. Service can sometimes be a little slow, but only during peak business hours. The coffee is a wonderful dark-roast and they do offer fresh-squeezed orange juice. Prices are a little higher than an average diner...but then again this place not an average diner. Pros: good menu variety Cons: crowded on weekends, limited parking more

Just OK 7/18/2002

I ate lunch here on a Thursday. The patio was crowded by 11:30, so we sat inside. The burger and veggie sandwich that we ordered took a long time to show up. We found that both were average. That is probably the best way to describe my dining experience - average. more

Eggs bene extrodinaire 7/18/2002

The Blue Plate has the best eggs benedict in town! The addition of avacado makes them extra tasty. Great place to fuel up before hitting the mountains for a full day of skiing or biking. Can't beat it. more
