Not the place for a large group 1/31/2011

Had an all-round bad experience here in October: waited til now just because we were working with the owner to remedy the problem--to no avail. Group of 20, known to be arriving at 5:30 pm and NEEDED to be gone by 7 pm (symphony concert). 1. Never given a menu, only a HUGE list of options orally to the whole table by one waitress (hence no prices seen). 2. Main dish not served til 7 pm--most of the group shovels in the food or leaves most uneaten. 3. Wine was ""topped off"" when glasses were half full still (illegal) and another glass charged. 4. Quoted group grattuity of 20%--actual bills contained gratuities of 21-25%. 5. Online prices shown to be in $17-$27 range, while our group paid at least $30-$35 per entree. 6. When 7:20pm arrived and we were begging for our bills so we could get to the concert (one of the composers was in our group), at least half of the group arrived at the concert after it had begun. After multiple discussions with the owner (who had left the restaurant himself to attend his son's football game), the only remedy offered was a bottle of wine if we ""stopped by"". more

Best Italian food I have had in Seattle. 11/7/2010

My wife and I went to Seattle to visit a friend. We decided to try this place out due to the reviews. I was kinda leary at first from the place being located in a dirty looking strip mall. more

Great meal everytime 9/3/2010

The local food is always served in a fantastic way. We have had company parties, family dinners and frequently have gone on New Years and Valentines Days. We have take friends visiting town and never hesitated to send local friends or business clients. The great wine recommendations always seem to match the food every time. From the Beach Cafe in West Seattle to now Bistro Baffi for 20yrs Michael and Dinka have never disappointed in making the visit a great night out. more

The most comfortable place for a special dinner 8/22/2010

Hidden place; great food 8/22/2010

I first went to this place off a Groupon. I am so glad I did this. It was hard to find or not hard but in unknown territory for me. It is inviting from the outside and the inside. It was delightful the way the specials were presented. The staff was extremely friendly. I spent more than the Groupon but it was entirely worth it. The different courses were not served too quickly - plenty of time to enjoy the meal. Each part of the meal just got better and better. It was so delicious. We shared a whole fish - an experience I never had the pleasure of enjoying. We are going back to try some of the other options. Lots of choices. more

Ravioli to remember! 8/15/2010

I ordered lobster ravioli because it looked so good on the plate the server showed us. My sister ordered fillet Mignon and we paired it with Super Toscano wine. Fillet Mignon was juicy and grilled to perfection( I had a few bites), but the ravioli ""stole the show""! Alfredo sauce kissed with fresh truffles just did it! I didn't expect to find a restaurant of this caliber at a strip mall in Burien! more

Brilliant ! 3/16/2010

What made this place so special is clearly, everything about it! It was challenging to find because it's tucked away in a somewhat residential area. We were greeted like kings by a friendly host and given a table next to the fireplace. The interior is cozy, and elegant and yet it feels casual and unpretentious. For a starter we had baked baby eggplant that was stuffed with different cheeses and served on spicy marinara. It was luscious and gave eggplant a whole new trend! I was feeling like pasta but once the server showed us a plate with their daily specials, the real dilemma kicked in .I couldn't resist the fresh Alaskan halibut, which turned out to be a great choice. The halibut was fresh, grilled and juicy with roasted bell peppers and cognac sauce. I loved it ! My husband had the homemade pasta with truffle oil , wild mushrooms and Alfredo sauce. I don't usually care for Alfredo sauce, but I tried a little ,and it was sinful! The wine list impressed us. You don't find Vibreti Giovanni Barolos from 1990's very often on wine lists. The server informed us that they also had a rare Barolo selections from 1961. Now that's remarkable for a local Italian restaurant. We ""settled "" for Tri Corno Super Toscano, which was suggested to us. It was thick and complex, with deep raspberry flavor and satin finish They don't have a sommelier, but I can assure you that their staff knows how to pair your meal with perfect choice of wine. Looks like the owner not only takes pride in serving phenomenal food , but he also seems to be a great wine connoisseur. We ended our meal with Tiramisu, which was light a delicious, a perfect end to a royal meal! Pros: food, wine, service, private parking lot Cons: hidden more

Now I know what the fuss is all about! 3/8/2010

I am not your typical food blogger, but I had to write this review! I had venison ravioli at Bistro Baffi Saturday night and I am still thinking about it. The ravioli were homemade and stuffed with venison and cheeses and baked in chef Michael's pink sauce, that I absolutely loved. The perfect union of all those wonderful flavors, made this dinner unforgettable. Pros: Food with so much flavor and gusto Cons: Hidden more

Wonderful Food! 1/5/2010

Wonderful delicious food. Very stylish, upscale & clean restaurant with reasonable prices. Fresh food made from scratch. We had no complaints what-so-ever. Our visit was very enjoyable and we had a tasty dinner with excellent house wine. City Search voted Bistro Baffi the Best Italian Food Restaurant and it fully deserves this honor. We always go back to this place. Pros: Outstanding Food, Service, Wine & Experience more

Changed my mind.... 12/30/2009

The owners of Bistro Baffi take their business seriously and clearly attempt to provide a selection of food and wine designed to satisfy. I was taken aback at the corkage fees but the owners dealt with my concerns and it would be unfair of me to discount the delightful environment and great food because of this. My sincere apologies. Pros: Owners take pride in their restaurant Cons: A bit spendy for Burien more

Love these guys! 12/19/2009

I love this place. The owners, Michael & Dinka, treat us like long, lost friends every time we come in. The food reflects the spiciness of Michael's Montenegran roots, and we never have had a bad experience that way. His wine suggestions are never-fail. Pros: Great food, great owners Cons: Off the beaten path more

Indeed! Best Italian in Seattle! 10/28/2009

Congratulations Bistro Baffi for winning the best Italian restaurant in Seattle. We always felt that chef Michael's food was the best Italian in the city , and were ecstatic when he opened his new restaurant in Burien. We used to go to his Beach House cafe on Alki for 12 years. Now we have to travel even less to enjoy his food. I love chef Michael's pink sauce, and I used to crave it tremendously when he was gone to Europe before opening Bistro Baffi. I like all his dishes with pink sauce , but my favorite is ""Penne alla Mike"". This pasta has scampi that are actually cooked in shell ( in order to preserve the flavor, as chef Michael explained it to me once), wild mushrooms and spicy pink sauce. Pros: never disappointed more

I loved it! 10/21/2009

What makes Italian food do delicious? I asked myself many times, and I bet many people did too. Is it the spices, or the heart they put into cooking, maybe the Italian-it must come out good-spirit? Whatever it is, one person is aware of the answer, that is Michael. Pros: atmosphere, service, food, friendliness Cons: I wish you had one restaurant on every corner more

Best Salmon in 46 years 10/20/2009

My fiance told Chef Micheal that his Salmon was the best he had had in his 46 years of life. He has travelled the world, and has eaten at the best restaurants, so that is quite a compiment. Pros: Mouthwatering Food/Friendly, prompt service more

Simply Divine 10/20/2009

Bistro Baffi is an undiscovered gem in an unexpected part of town. Go and try it ! Pros: outstanding food, great staff Cons: quite a drive from my house more

Highly overrated second class Italian 10/20/2009

We have visited Baffi about 5 times over the last 2 years, mainly to give it a second chance. After the last try in October 2009, there will be no second chances. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Lousy food, poor service more
