Disappointing 5/10/2011

My husband and I joined to practice yoga together. We both paid for 1 year membership. We introduced ourselves as husband and wife more than twice and always practiced besides one another. In the future, we were asked personal questions followed by obvious passive aggressive remarks about the status of our relationship. We continued to practice yoga after 5 times being insulted in front of others at the front desk. We asked for a partial refund of our money which was denied after owner admitted that they were wrong. \r These people are not happy and they don?t like to see others who are. Please be careful. We are not trying to hurt them- we are trying to protect others. more

They all stink! I worry about fungus/ bbugs in all studios 3/9/2011

Ah- the chances we take for optimum health! I love to hate Bikram, hate going in but feel so great afterward. If only the studios had rubber floors that could be hosed down daily, it would be great. Some with a little texture so we didn't slip. Rugs are crazy really- all the filth they hold-ew! I've had 4 instructors so far. The one on Saturday was the best. Tuesday's instructor kept telling us to ""clear our minds"" while she proceeded to tell us about her car problems and being late to work- shut the F up! How can we clear our minds when you are yammering away? I know Bikram yoga instructors have to talk us through every movement as a rule but while we are chilling, can you just shut up? Very irritating! The yoga instructor today was very good as well, she stopped talking when she didn't have to give us instructions- that's much better. I don't want to hear about your car or your problems, just instruct, go have a beer later with your friends and tell them about your problems okay? more

groupon 12/17/2010

\r Bad Studio\r Old smelly carpet that they force you to use instead of your mat in the standing series. That would be fine if the flooring was not stained and disgusting\r Owner is rude and therefore most of her instructors are rude and stand at the top of the class and yell orders. Not a great environment. Maggie is great; hopefully she finds another studio to teach at.\r I bought this with groupon. The owner gave back my money, which was nice. Glad I don’t have to go back\r more

Worst hot yoga experience I have ever had. 11/14/2010

I wrote an email to the manager of Bikram's Hot Yoga, about my experience. Copy of the email is below. I requested a response to the email within 24 hours. I did not hear from the company, so I decided to call on 11/11/2010. Manager was rude and a little snippy, and said we don't give refunds, you are more than welcome to come back. I told her I am willing to pay for the class, but I would like the reminder of the money to be refunded back, and she still said no. Now I am disputing the charge on my credit card. This is my second time attending a hot yoga class. The Bikram's Hot Yoga Bellevue is in a business park, and the studio as a mildew like odor and very slippery carpet in hot yoga. I have a question, why is there carpet in hot yoga? Email sent on 11/10/2010 To whom this may concern, Yesterday (11/9/2010) I paid for 5 session package. While in the 8:30pm class, I began slipping on the carpet, as result to the slipping and trying to maintain my balance I pulled a muscle in my ankle. My ankle did swell up a little, and shortly after I left the class to go home. I was very unhappy with the instructor demeanor and her lack of understanding when I tried to make modifications to keep from slipping. Her reply was ""Well, everyone is slipping"". I came to yoga to relax and distress, but when I left I was upset and really annoyed with the instructor. At this point there is nothing you or the company can do, I have already made up my mind I no longer want to attend any classes at your studio. I just would like a refund. Please respond within 24 hours. Thank you, more

This is the only Yoga you need! 11/3/2010

I started about 8 years ago after I had my second child, I have lost about 40 lbs since then. The magic is I can still maintain the lighter weight for years. I have been practicing this Bikram Yoga for about 3-4 times a week for the past several years and I love it! My motivation is I rather visit this Yoga studio and practicing Yoga than going to the doctor's office to maintain good health and balance. Bellevue Bikram studio is the best and offers the most classes in town to fit my busy schedule. more

BEST HOT YOGA in Bellevue 10/28/2010

The first time I tried Bikram Yoga was with my boyfriend back in December 2009. He was interested in it since he was a golfer and he was needing a way to stay flexible in order to help him with his swing and I wanted to try it out of simple curiosity. We signed up for the introductory 1 week unlimited for $20.00 I believe it was. After our first week we both were hooked. We practiced at the Bellevue Studio for a few months as well as one in Green Lake. In April 2010 my boyfriend passed away and I took a break from yoga to get my life back in order. After about a 6 month break (longer than expected) I came back to the Bellevue studio and immediately felt as if I was were I should/ needed to be. The instructors are great! They are kind, friendly, helpful, know you by name and make you feel like they genuinely are interested in being there. The studio is clean and cozy feeling. Unlike some studios Bellevue studio always keeps the room HOT and I mean HOT; just like I expect hot yoga to be. more

Most importantly I've notice change around my mid section. Overall, Birkam Hot Yoga of Bellevue is a great place and I would recommend this studio to anyone and everyone. more

Tired of fake hot yogas, this one is real! 10/21/2009

I have been practicing Bikram yoga for several years, and have tried out all of the hot yoga studios in the area. I always come back to this one because the others end up changing the series. It seems like studios are turning up the heat and calling it hot yoga to capitalize on hot yoga's popularity, when in fact what they offer has nothing or little to do with the Bikram series. I have learned to trust the studios that have Bikram in their name. \r \r Bikram Yoga Bellevue consistently offers Bikram's 26 postures. If you ask me, they provide the right environment too. Not too hot (I have heard of some studios climbing to over 120 degrees!) and not too cold (some studios are in fact a 90 degrees warm. ) I believe these guys are aiming for 105 degrees and 50% humidity, and doing a great job!\r \r Yes, you are supposed to wait for water breaks, but I don't mind this. It helps keep me focused. I also know that Bikram yoga is not about modifying postures, or using towels for grips or other props. One of the teachers here says that the therapy and benefits come in trying the right way to the extent your body allows, and I find this very motivating!\r \r I'm addicted to Bikram yoga. Nothing makes me feel(or look) better. I'll keep going to Bikram Yoga Bellevue because I think they are doing a fantastic job, plus they offer true Bikram classes every two hours!\r \r Pros: Real Bikram yoga, lots of classes every day Cons: It's addicting more

I was going to switch back but... 9/1/2009

This studio has really gone downhill. I wonder if it's had a change of owner. I love its location but cannot see myself wasting my time or my money with a place which does not hold the temperature or the humidity to the Bikram standard. A real shame and disappointment. Pros: Location Cons: NOT HOT! more

What happened to ""HOT"" Bikram yoga?? 6/30/2009

I used to love this studio, but I'm afraid it is not the same anymore. The heat is constantly off - I mean OFF!! If you want to try ""warm"" Bikram yoga, this is your place. They also started to use the fans A LOT more recently, which only make things worse. I've never been to a studio where the fan is on more than the heater is... Pros: Lots of classes, free parking Cons: Missing HEAT!!! more

Best Yoga Studio 11/17/2008

Small studio, but very comfortable and feels like a yoga studio. The teachers are great for beginners and experts. Love the power vinyasa classes--the are upbeat and an amazing workout. more

PASS! 10/3/2008

I agree with the other one star person that reviewed last September. I joined in September '07 so I wonder if that was just a bad time for BYB? I love that there is parking! But if that is the best I have to say....yikes. The male instructors there were fine. It was the women that made me nuts. ""Let go of your ego"" they would preach. Yes, PLEASE LET GO OF YOURS. Don't tell me when I can drink my water! There were times I would make my own modifications (for example, bringing a small wash cloth to use around my foot to assist with the stretch) after repeatedly telling me NOT to do this, one of the female instructors told me to stop and had the nerve to say QUOTE...""we'll wait"" as in, we'll wait for you to DO AS I SAY. WHAT??!!!! One day the manager told a story of how a participant fell asleep in class and she was very bothered. This was unacceptable to her. If I have paid and I'm so relaxed I fall asleep....DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!! I'm not hurting anyone!!! I like the location and the schedule but all the unnecessary instruction left me shopping elsewhere. Pros: Good discount for new students Cons: Carpet and the female instructors more

Yoga to Marathon 9/19/2008

So I am marathoner who 6 mothns ago was training for the SD Marathon. My training was going great until about 6 to 8 weeks before the race where I began to come down with injury after injury, the wheels were pretty much coming off the bus (I am sure other marathoners can relate)! Needless to say come race day on 6/1/08 I did not do as well as I hoped...in fact it might have been the most painful experience ever running with an injury for 26.2 miles! Well, like any good athlete does I analyzed what I could have done in order to do better...well it was pretty simple stay injury free! How does one stay injury free you might ask? The answer I came to was become more flexible and limber. I mean running 25-35 miles a week puts a tremendous toll on your body and if you are not loose and flexible it is only a matter of time before you come down with an injury. Next, I thought to myself what can I do to increase my flexibility and range of motion...and it was like it came from Bikram himself ""YOGA"" (HA)! I heard about Bikram Yoga of Bellevue from a friend and tried it out once and the feeling afterwords was incredible. This was 3 months ago and I have my next race in Chicago on 10/12/08! These past 3 months have been great...I mean I was a collegiate and I have never felt so good in my life both physically and mentally, it sbeen great all around. I have no doubts that when ""race day"" comes in the next few weeks that I am going to run the race of a lifetime...and hopefully qualify for Boston! I suggest that if your are new to yoga or if you are continuing to do yoga you should try Bikram Yoga of Bellevue the instructors are kind, understanding, supportive, accommidating, and motivating...as well as darn flexible, ha! In closing I will say that if you feel like you are missing something in your life go to Bikram Yoga of Bellevue and SWEAT IT OUT!!!! Pros: Parking is fine instructors are great Cons: its hot...but hey its supposed to be, ha! more

Best stretching, best workout... 6/28/2008

I was a student at the Bikram's in Bellevue, and I loved it.The teachers are patient, kind and respectful, and there to help you-with your posing should you have a hard time like myself.\r \r They will explain to you why Yoga can be (or is) the best work out there is for us, and it makes sense.\r \r I leave feeling refreshed, and with more energy. You can drop in, or you can pay for a weekly session up front.Thumbs up for Bikrams Hot Yoga in Bellevue. more

Good overall, though not excellent due to carpet 4/24/2008

Good instructors, lovely facilities, and many class times to choose from. Great studio for consistently enjoying the benefits that result from a regular Bikram practice. I don't practice often here though because the carpet cleaning schedule is out of sync with the class schedule - the floor is really unpleasant. If you are able to get past that, the studio is nice. Pros: Consistant Bikram teaching, many classes to choose from, seems well-managed Cons: Carpet that's not cleaned regularly more

Best so far! 12/10/2007

I am an avid Bikram yogi, first introduced to the discipline 6 yrs ago. I've moved around a bit which has given me the opportunity to try several different Bikram Yoga studios here in the US and also abroad. I?ve tried a few studios locally as well. I have to say Bikram Yoga Bellevue is by far the best I've encountered yet! As soon as I walk in the door I can feel the stress lifting already... more

Hot Yoga helped me with depression - This is best hot yoga studio in town! 10/16/2007

I have tried every Bikram and hot yoga studio in the area. I am so happy to have found Bikram Yoga Bellevue. They have the best schedule and their showers are wonderful! The teachers are great too. It is an ?affiliated? studio so all teachers have to be certified. And I must say the heat is PERFECT! Some studios are too cold, some are too hot. I find this studio to be juuuuust right?and no the three bears to contend with. It?s a safe and positive place to become happier and healthier. On a serious note; I used to suffer from depression and this condition disappeared within the first 60 days of my practice. I wish more people knew about this benefit of Bikram yoga. Pros: Schedule, expertise, and atmosphere Cons: in business park across from new Joe's Sporting Goods, took me a minute to find. more

Definately has gone downhill. No longer 9/17/2007

Bikram Yoga Bellevue used to be my favorite Bikram Yoga studio but it seems that their gain in popularity has made them go downhill. Pros: Parking, Class Schedule Cons: Not providing what is advertised, Service more
