AMAZING BMW & MINI SPECIALISTS!!!!!! 9/21/2011

I have been to many different Mini shops for my Mini cooper & I MUST say this one is the BEST. The Mini technicians here are geniuses of Mini! This is the one stop shop for all Mini and BMW needs. I recommended my friend to bring his BMW here & they took his car to the dealer, so it was FREE in the end. They did all of his BMW service & he said ""These people rock. I will never go anywhere else, ever!"" They gave me AMAZING deals for all my Mini services & repairs that I have needed. They rock! I highly, highly, highly recommend them!!!!! I wish I could give them 6+ stars!!! more

Discovered Avus 6/23/2011

I just discovered Avus. As a long time owner of both a Mini and a BMW 3 series, I can't believe I never heard of them until now. We are diehard Mini and BMW owners and now diehard Avus Autosport customers. We rarely buy new cars but we found the Mini hatchback (R56) at a dealership in Los Angeles and were surprised when one of people there buying a car as well pointed us to Avus Autosport. more

they fix what other can't in los angeles 6/16/2011

I have a BMW325i and I have taken it to Avus Autosport bmw mechanic los angeles for nearly three years. I like my guy there, Andrew. I've taken it in for a check up and he's talked me out of things I get in my head. You know, I want the best for the car but he makes sure we do things on schedule and not rush ahead. So I've found that he saves me money. I like that when I do take it in, it's in a covered garage all the time. I'm kind of picky about where the car sits so... You've got to get to Avus and let them take care of your BMW. You'll be glad you've found a great repair shop more

Un - Professionals 4/11/2011

Well I can't say if there work is good or not because I made an appointment and when I got there they said they were to busy and would not get to it for a few days so i said I would return it in few days ( another appointment )since it's my only vehicle. Came back same deal he said he would call never did I had it repaired elsewhere, also he offered me some Dinan parts for my car and said he would get back to me with prices never did I guess they might do good work if your willing to just leave your car there and they fix it when they get around to it. I will never go back as I like people that do what they say like call back!!! more

The Professionals. 4/5/2011

I found Avus on Google. I just moved to LA, and needed a local shop to work on my BMW Z3. I'm picky about my car, & I take online reviews very seriously. When I found Avus Autosport, I loved that they were Dinan Authorized. That means these guys are pros, and not just a bunch of stupid monkeys swinging wrenches around and making up excuses when something doesn't work. I read all of the reviews. Most were exceptional, but 1 made me laugh out loud. It sounded like a person who mostly just bitches about everything all day long. It was her 1 star review stacked against all the 5 star reviews that actually inspired me to call Avus. They answered on the first ring, and I knew I was dealing with professionals. Jonathan took some preliminary info, and assured me of a call back within 10 minutes to discuss my repair. I hate to be left on hold when I'm calling a new business, and they got that without a word from me. Within 5 minutes, Amir called to discuss my service. He was candid & professional without coming off as arrogant or full of crap, like some shops can. We discussed some options for the repair, and set an appointment for the next morning. When I got to the shop I was immediately impressed by how clean it was. The front office, the workshop, the sidewalk out front, it was a model of what I expect. No blaring music, no oily rags laying around, and the space itself was well designed and attractive. My car actually looked better INSIDE the shop than it did outside! It was so cool that I even had my girlfriend come inside just to SEE it. It's THAT well done. Amir explained the next steps of the service. He explained how the billing works, and gave me an estimate based on his expectations for the repair. I was assured of a call if for any reason the repair might take longer, or cost more. This was all quick, courteous, and professional the whole way. I left my car confident I would be satisfied. A few hours later, Amir called with an update, & told me the car would be ready in the next 20 minutes. That was fast! Often times a shop will hold your car hostage while they 'wait for parts' or whatever- but this was in and out. Even with my high expectations, I was still surprised & very impressed. When I picked up the car, I met Andy the owner. He clearly takes great pride in his shop and their work, as well as his team. It was clear that he valued my time, and that he valued me as a customer. My car was spotless, and the work was done with meticulous attention to detail. I assume most BMW owners are as finicky about their cars as I am, and I assure you, the team at Avus understands and executes their work perfectly. Payment. Let's face it. In this world, you get what you pay for. These guys are not out to take advantage of people. They want to make you happy, and they know that gouging your wallet isn't going to make you happy. Their prices are fair & competitive, and the service is top notch, & better than any dealership. With a firm handshake and an easy swipe of my card we were done, and not a penny over the estimate. AMAZING! Lastly, there's nothing I hate more than taking my car in for something simple, and after the repair, a mechanic says, "" oh by the way, I found about $5,000 more worth of crap you need to take care of on your car"" ... Avus doesn't pull that card, and that's another reason I'll be back. It was all so simple and fast - I didn't want to leave. I wanted to hang around & talk shop for a minute, about cars, tuning, whatever. - They were all ears. No one rushed me out because they had 'more important things' to do. That's when I learned how Avus Autosport got its name, which was interesting. I drove home happy and researched a famous race track in Germany which shares the name. Not only have I found a great shop close to home, I've also found a team of people as dedicated to the care and livelihood of my car as I am. A++ more

Excessive and dinshonest 1/5/2011

I was referred to Avus by Joe at The M Shop in Eagle Rock, who has always treated me right. As a young woman, I rely on efficient, reasonable shops to keep my car in top shape. Unfortunately, Avus is the opposite -- they are excessive and dishonest. The high level brake light on my Mini was having problems due to a water leak and I was told by Jonathan at Avus, after being charged for a full hour of labor, that ""your trunk's full of water and we going to need 4 more hours to tear it apart and even figure out what's wrong."" At $115/hour for labor, that's nearly $600 -- just to diagnose the problem! ""We might as well fix it while we're in there,"" adding on any charge for parts they needed. What I should have done was remove the car right then and there, drain the water myself and air it out, unscrew and unplug the light until I could get to another mechanic. One who wouldn't try so hard to pull one over on me. Instead, I took Jonathan's suggestion and filed a claim with my insurance company. An appraiser came to look at the vehicle and said he couldn't write it up until Avus had more information about the extent of the electrical damage. Jonathan insisted the appraiser tell me he needed at least 4 hours with it. When I called Jonathan to check the status of the appraisal, he said the appraiser AUTHORIZED him to go ahead with the full diagnosis and repair and that it was already underway. THIS IS A LIE, IN ADDITION TO BEING ILLEGAL. Any and all work beyond the initial assessment MUST be authorized by the owner. The owner of the appraisal company and the appraiser himself had a hard time dealing with Avus and agreed that I was being taken for a ride. To boot, it didn't look like insurance would cover the damages because it appeared it was due to normal wear-and-tear. This all happened yesterday, and I went to Avus immediately to pick up my car. Apparently Jonathan had lied to me about the repairs being underway; the car was in the same condition as when I brought it in 6 days earlier. I paid only for the one hour of labor I had signed off on in the beginning, and gave them a piece of my mind. They did not once apologize or attempt to rectify the situation. I discourage ANYONE -- especially women -- from taking your vehicle to this shop. They are crooks. more

Excellent customer service 11/30/2010

The owner of Avus Autosports--Andrew really knows and understands customer service and loyality. \r Last week I pulled out of my garage to see that I had been leaking coolant from my car. I called Avus Autosport (my car Dr.) and was told to bring in the car right away. I for sure thought I was going to be told bring it tomorrow since it was such a last minute thing. Not at all, they were willing to take care of me-my car right away.\r It's not the first time that my car has leaked coolant, since there is this piece that keeps breaking and having to be replaced by Avus Autosport. Not their faulty but crappy manufacturing. \r Anyway, when I came to pick up my car, I was ready to pay but Andrew (owner) said it was on the house since it was something out of my control their control and just plain cheap manufacturing piece. If that doesn't speak volumes of this place, I dont know what does. \r This is only one of the many reasons I continue to deal and refer people with BMW's to Avus. more

You can relax, you found the place. 11/6/2009

If you're picky about who works on your car you can relax, you found your place. Brilliant diagnostics, excellent communication with customer and thorough attention to detail are why I bring my car here. They're nice guys too! more

Excellent work, very professional, would definitely recommen 9/28/2009

I live in Denver, Colorado and I hired AVUS to do a pre-purchase inspection on a BMW 850i that was in California. After they completed a very thorough inspection, I got a detailed list of the items that were wrong with the car and an estimate of how much it would cost for me to have them repaired. They were very thorough, prompt, and spent time explaining all of the details to me. I would recommend them to anyone for service work! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

The best BMW service shop in LA county 9/11/2009

If you love your BMW, you really don't want to go anywhere else. Avus is up-front, honest and offers truly outstanding quality of work and stellar customer service. I know BMWs and would not say this easily about a shop, trust me! I am already a repeat customer because I refuse to compromise on quality of work. These guys take great pride in their work, something that's not easy to come by these days. BMWs are not cheap to repair, so don't expect a bargain. If you want the job done right and never want to experience the same problem again, this is the shop for you, no competition. Pros: Finest quality work, stellar customer service more

Avus is good at the tough problems! 8/26/2009

Avus Autosport is an outstanding automotive repair facility. They know BMW's better than anybody - including the dealer. They performed a very tricky transmission swap on my car (from Auto to Manual), and got all of the complicated programming and wiring perfect.\r Very highly recommended! Pros: Stellar BMW mechanic Cons: Can be a little expensive more

the absolute best 8/3/2009

Avus is the absolute best independent repair shop with whom I've ever done business. They've done a ton of Dinan mods to both the engine and suspension of my 540, each one executed with meticulous attention to detail. Even the Dinan engineers with whom I've talked agree that no one does better work than Avus. Meanwhile, the customer service is friendly, personal, and highly professional. Every time they've worked on my car, they've finished either exactly on time or ahead of schedule. They've provided rides and rental cars so I've never been stranded for a single wasted minute. When I had a Stage 2 Dinan suspension installed on my car, Andrew even pulled the last set of JRZ shocks in America out of an M5 bundle because he knew I didn't want to settle for Konis. Someone else in this forum complained about price, but it's unreasonable to expect BMW repairs at Ford Focus prices. If you check the hourly labor rates at a BMW dealership and the quality of work they provide, Avus is a bargain in comparison. Pros: knowledgeable, professional, punctual more

OUTSTANDING BMW SERIVCE 7/22/2009

Avus Autosport, Andrew and his AWESOME TEAM! I cannot thank-you all enough for the OUTSTANDING Meticulous extraordinary service you performed on my 550i with (DINAN upgrades) and X5. You are the best of the best! I still have another 3 year free Maintenance with BMW dealer, i just cant bring myself to taking my cars anywhere but AVUS now. Its so refreshing to be dealt with in an honest open way. Im making my husband trade his Mercedes in for a BMW just so we can enjoy the AVUS experience on regular basis. I Cant wait for my next service! Hopefully more DINAN upgrades! Thank-you all again for making my BMW's come to life! Kindest regards to you all Ingrid Howe Pros: The Best There is Cons: no pink soap in restroom!!! more

Pros For the High-End Automobile 7/22/2009

Was looking for an authorized Dinan Dealer for my new 335i. I bought it on a sat, and the owner waited for me to drive back from San Diego on the same day to get it tuned. I was late and he waited for me and did the tune, it was great service. My Experience with Avus: 1) Dinan Software Tune 2) Coilover suspension 3) Dinan Exhaust 4) Oil Change 5) Fixed Disc Brake squeak I feel like have a decent amount of experience with this company. I would definitely recommend them for the higher-end automobile. They are honest . .they will take you into the garage and show you what is going on . They will get you a loaner car if needed, they will do things the right way because they don't cut corners. I recently had a squeak on one of my wheels, I originally thought it was related to my new suspension through them. They looked at it and it ended up being a brake pad issue which they fixed in 20 min . .they DID NOT charge me. Yes as someone stated in an earlier review, my oil change for my BMW was also $120 . . but it's a luxury car and the oil alone is $60, and the filter is $20 so . . . They also work on Ferrari, Porsche, and Mini, though I do not have any experience with them in these areas. It's top notch service and I would recommend them. Make sure to call to make an appointment as they are a pretty busy shop, which just shows they are doing it right. Pros: Great sevice, and extremely knowledgable Cons: If I had t choose one . . they are busy more

Excellent BMW Auto Repair 7/13/2009

Andrew, Ruben and the rest of the team are amazing! I have been going to Avus for almost 10 years now and I still feel so lucky to have found them. My BMW was my first car and when Andrew learned this during our initial visit he immediately took the time to explain to me the mechanics of my car & how to best take care of it – something the dealership never did. Over the years Andrew has maintained my trust, always providing exceptional customer care and guiding me with what was best for my car’s needs rather than trying to “pad” in extra costs. Andrew is always straightforward in his assessments and his prices are exceptional. I am so proud that my car still performs efficiently and in fact better than most of the BMW’s that other people I know own or those who only want to go to dealerships for repairs – which often times has been for models much younger than mine. I am positive that this is because Andrew & his team have been exceptionally proactive in responding to any issues on my car’s behalf. I would highly recommend Avus to any BMW owner. Pros: excellent customer care, very fair pricing, efficient servic more
