Avanzi Hair Design

After 7 years of coming here, I will not be returning. I am very torn in writing this review but was put off by my service and so feel that it should be done. more

Here's the story; I just started a new job a week ago and with the holidays coming up so quickly, I knew that I couldn't put my long unruly hair on the back burner any longer. more

I am in complete ""awe"" of this treatment. I have fought with unruly, fried, broken, frizzy hair my entire life. I have tried EVERYTHING! This is the first thing that I am so excited to say has worked and it is like MAGIC. To anyone that is skeptical, it is worth one try and you will see it is for real. Life will be so much easier without fighting so much with my hair. And the salon experience was positive - very good atmosphere and friendly! A co-worker (who always had enviably gorgeous hairstyle) recommended that place and I was not disappointed. Angelo Avanzi is not only a fantastic stylist, but a charming and hospitable host. He is inventive and confident. I trusted him right away. He just looked at me in bright light and an hour later my mousy brown hair was gorgeous red! I loved it!. Today I got the most beautiful, subtle caramel highlights and I love my hair even more. It's an amazing place with great ambiance and wonderful staff. Also the location is great - one block away from Bloomingdale's (N, R, W, 4, 5, 6 also go there). Highly recommended! Juan has moved back to Avanzi and I cannot be happier. He is the most professional stylist that I have ever had style my hair. I teach high school, and after returning to school the next day, my students told me that I had the best haircut they had ever seen on me. For a high school student to notice, that impressive. Ive been going to Avanzi Salon for 2 years now and have never been dissappointed! Angelo is such a talented stylist and does amazing work. I get compliments all the time on my highlights, color and hair style. Josephine and Danielle at the front desk are so nice and Daniel gives and awesome wash and scalp massage. Was visiting New York from Massachusetts and visited this salon and was very impressed. I got my hair done by Jackie and was very pleased with the results. She was fast and accurate with what I asked for. Got my hair dyed and highlight and was very happy with my end result. Thank you Jackie. Out of all the salons I have visited, today was the best salon experience I have EVER had. ( and I've been to many many salons) I always get a little nervous trying a new salon but starting from the shampoo chair, it was the best anyone has ever washed my hair and the scalp massage was incrediable. I was so relaxed! Then Angelo cut my hair. It was most definately the best hair cut I have ever gotten. Most of the salons I have visited, cut hair with very similar techniques and I am never crazy about the way stylists cut into the hair. Angelo had a technique that I've never seen before and was amazing to see him in action. He had such precision and passion for what he was doing and my hair never looked better. The salon was beautiful, with a great view and it was very clean. That's one of my biggest things. I would highly reccomend this salon to anyone, the staff was very talented and hospitiable and I left excited to show off my new hair. Everyone who saw me tonight noticed my hair right away and all said how amazing it was! The location was great too, right across from bloomingdales and we got lunch at Patsy's next door. Andrea has colored my hair for several years. She brings out the best in color and highlights. I always receive several compliments on my color. Andrea has an eye for color. I've referred several people to her-most recently a friend from Europe. Thanks Andrea! more

I am actually the previous tenant that recommended Kathleen to Avanzi and am so glad she was happy with them, but I don't know how anyone would not be! Giusseppe colored my hair for several years and he was amazing. The staff is so friendly and warm, and everyone comes out looking beautiful! What more could you want? It's in a great location near Bloomingdale's (even better for me when I lived in the same building!), so go get your hair done, do a little shopping, and have a great day on the Upper East Side! I recently visited this salon and had a wonderful experience. I started with a great massage and had my nails done then I had a cut. I loved my hair as well as everythibg else I had done. Gloria gave me one of the best massage I have ever had, from the tips of my toes to the top of my head all my stress was released. Pros: Great massage and manicure by Gloria Cons: no cons here more

Years ago when I moved to New York, the previous tenant in my apartment left me a note that said this was best salon in the city. Giuseppe cut and colored my hair for many years after this. I have since moved out of New York, but am always tempted to fly back just to see Giuseppe I envy New Yorkers for having this salon. Kathleen Hall more

I went here for my color and I was not so happy with the results. It did not come out the way I wanted it to. What bothered me the most was that the shampoo guy kept trying to get me to buy overpriced hair care products that I did not even need!
