I love tanning here but I am not happy due to the fact that my credit card expired and they failed to let me know that it was being declined due to this and they have been charging me for this. Now i could understand if i was just simply not paying!! I just tanned there 1 week ago and they said absolutly nothing about this to me. As always i just walked in, scanned my lil card, and my finger print and tanned! I had no idea that my card was declined and was being charged. Why didnt they tell me then? Now 1 week later, i have a huge bill from so called late fees and yes i am going to pay it, but i am not happy at all! This is bad communication with their sales people and simply makes them look bad. I coulda just paid it 1 week ago and settled the problem. Due to this, I do not reccoment anyone getting a membership there unless you just wanna get scammed for money! more

What a way to relax! 3/11/2011

My wife and I started going to At the Beach when we moved here a few years back. We love it so much more than the salons where we used to live. The prices are lower, and the customer service is top notch. We both love the fact that we can go in and tan whenever we want, and not have to worry about paying every time. Having a tanning membership has worked really well for us both. We tend to swing by a couple of times a week after work, and have appreciated that they stay open late. more

I won a free week of tanning through a local radio station, so took my coupon in to check it out. I was told that they would waive my $85 membership fee in lieu of the free week if I signed a contract. I did so, and agreed to unlimited tanning at $63 per month. Well, it didn't take long to figure out that the beds suck, and you are ""forced"" to purchase their products in order for the beds to tan properly. What a load of crap! I am now taking them to court to break the contract, because no one from corporate will call me back! Stay away from these scammers!!! I feel like rating them one star is being generous. Cons: Too many to list more

I have been tanning with At the Beach on and off for years, even back when they only had 3 locations and were open 24 hours. What I enjoy about tanning there is the great choice of beds and the fact that they offer monthly plans where I can pay one price monthly and tan as much as I like. STAY AWAY FROM AT THE BEACH 6/20/2008

I had filed for the 24 hour cancellation policy due to medical complications. I was told that all I needed to do was send a letter explaining my situation and have it postmarked by the next day and my account would be terminated and I would not be charged. I did exactly what I was told only to find that I was still being billed. I immediately called the corporate office and was informed by an incredibly rude lady CINDY in accounting, that my letter was never received! I began fighting her on this and she said that she would look for it again (only not right then). Several weeks have passed and Cindy has yet to call me or return any of the numerous messages I have left her!! Everyone else working there is completely useless and tell me that they don't have the authority to look into my issue! I am now being charged for service that I cannot medically use despite the fact that I did everything I was told I needed to in able to terminate my account. This company has absolutely no concern whatsoever as to pleasing their customers. Please do not fall into the trap like I did and be stuck feeding this terrible company your money!! Cons: Extremely overpriced, terrible customer service, ridiculous contracts that are impossible to get out of more

Untrained employees/unhelpful store managers 10/11/2007

I am in the military and my wife frequents -At the Beach- . I was scheduled to deploy so my wife was going back home while I was deployed, so she went to set up auto-debit about five months ago. She went to the store and filled out the paper work with the male that was working that evening. Then she went tanning that same evening. She finished tanning and left. In the upcoming weeks she went back to Washington. All the while the paper work was never processed and late fees started to accrue. When she did return back to Oklahoma after most of the summer she wanted to go tanning. She went to the store and was informed that she had racked up over $300 worth of late fees. She was surprised because it was supposed to be on auto-debit. She did not go tanning that evening because she would have to pay the erroneous charges. She then got in touch with the store manager and explained her situation. The store manager told her that her employees know the process for that paper work and did not make a mistake. She told my wife that she would have to pay all of the late fees. My wife feeling that this was unfair that the store manager feels that her human employees don?t make mistakes. The store manager then implied that my wife was the type of customer that she deals with all the time that are delinquent on their accounts. After some conversation wife agreed to pay the late fees but no longer wanted to tan with -At the Beach-. The store manager told my wife that she could pay the late fees but would not end the contract. My wife asked the store manager if there was another person that she could speak with, possibly another manager and the current manager told her "" I am the boss!"", and her only option was to pay the bill and live out the rest of the contract whether she tanned or not. That is where we are at in this moment and time. It is disappointing that in this day and age people assume the worst and will not listen to the truth sometimes. Pros: Never any issues until we both came back to Oklahoma after my deployment. Cons: Store manager unwilling to resolve monitary issues based on past experince with other consumers more
