My children and I paint at the Art Caf?? all the time. The new changes that have been made are amazing. The kids loved the splatter painted floor and the nice cute birds were a huge hit too. The pieces they made turned out beautifully and they are sitting on the shelf in our living room! We cannot wait to go back and add to our collection. more

The Art Cafe on Hilton Head Island is a wonderful, fun and new experience for the whole family. Every time I go, I find something new to paint. The kids enjoy picking out something they want to paint and choosing the colors they want to use. Everything is taken care of as soon as you walk in the Art Cafe. You pick out the pieces you want to paint from a full store of choices. After you pick 10 colors, sit down and enjoy being taken care of by the staff. If you want more colors, just ask. I have been going to the Art Cafe since the new owners took over 5 years ago. Jenny and her whole family are always welcoming and happy. If I ever need anything, they are very quick to help - even if it does not have to deal with painting. My husband and son go play tennis while my daughter and I go play at the Art Cafe. more

My kids have such a great time here, it gives them something to do when its rainy or cold out. more

My husband has a birthday coming up so I brought my little girl in the Art Caf? to make a hand print plate! The staff was so kind and helpful and they were so good to my little girl! The plate turned out so cute and I just cannot wait to give it to my husband! more

My girlfriends and I are on vacation with our families on Hilton Head and decided that instead of our traditional cocktail hour we would do something different while on vacation. One of the ladies had been to the Art Cafe before and had fond memories of it so we decided to harness our creativity and make momentos to remember our time on vacation. We had the hardest time choosing from all of the fun pottery pieces! The girls working the front were very attentive and really tried to help us with our pieces (me in particular- I lack the creative gene). We enjoyed it so much we brought our children back the next day to paint their own things (they have GREAT kid stuff!). If you are looking for a fun activity out of the sun (and in the AC) for adults and kids - I absolutely recommend the Art Cafe! more

While on vacation, our family painted in the Art Cafe. My children, as well as myself and husband had so much fun! There are so many great pottery pieces to choose from! My children went to the Art Cafe's ""Kids Nite Out"" the next evening.They loved their special nite out! It was very well organized program.The staff was very curteous and very ""hands on""! We will be back in 2012 for sure! more

I brought my kids here last week and we had a great time. My kids loved painting and I loved not having to clean it up! The girls working were extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely be bringing my family back next year and I recommend it to other families for a fun summer activity. more

The concept is brilliant. We loved going into the cafe and picking out neat pieces of pottery, picking the colors of paint we wanted to use, and enjoying a nice time painting and talking with friends. A few things I would advise the owner to work on are being able to get in touch with someone. That was one of the turnoffs to the business. I called on and off during their hours of operation for four days and repeatedly got the voicemail which tells you to NOT leave a message. Regardless of being out of town, the employees should be able to answer a phone call. Secondly, the young lady who was in there ""helping"" was not very friendly or helpful. She stayed on facebook the whole time and shrugged/rolled eyes when we would ask questions or need more paint. Lastly, at checkout, they ASK for a tip; ""If you could, fill in the tip line, bottom line and sign your name"" and continue to stand there and stare while you fill it out making you feel obligated to leave money for a worker who didn't even want to help. Inside the tip jar, it says their manager doesn't pay them well. For a business to be advertising these issues is very inappropriate. I did have fun regardless of those three critiques, but will not be returning to their place of business. more

Last week my family had the pleasure of painting at the Art Cafe for the first time. Stacy, an employee at the cafe helped me make a plate where the children put their handprints on and I turned them into fish. It turned out so cute! I took a long time painting the plate and when my children were finished they got a little stir crazy. The employees at the Cafe were very kind and kept my girls occupied by having them assist them in their work, which made the girls feel very important and have so much fun. My girls can't stop talking about how one day they too want to work for the Art Cafe. I will recommend this place to all my family and friends that visit Hilton Head and will visit next time we are in town! more

Bad Service! I would have to agree with the person that wrote ""A Dump"" Although, my 3 kids did enjoy painting and picking out their piece, and that is important, but the service, if you want to call it that, was ridiculous. I experienced the same things. Teenagers that did not greet us nor did they tell us what we were suppose to do. We just sat down and tried to figure out what we were doing. At check out the young girl told me our 3 pieces would be ready before our departure on Sunday afternoon. When I went on Sunday to pick them up, the shop was closed! The hours of operation said that someone should have been there, but there wasn't. I spoke with a store owner next door and this seemed to be a COMON occurance. I left my name and address with him and a message on the machine at the store. I did get a call back from the owner herself and she said that her employee had gotten ""grounded"" and therefore could not come in to work. I paid close to $70 for 3 small pieces that I may or may not ever see. The kids were very disappointed that they did not get their artwork. The Art Cafe seems to be very loosely ran and in need of good help! It is a great idea not being executed very well. Pros: kids loved it Cons: Service is Awful more

People are crazy that say this place is a dump and they had a bad time because it was dirty or whatever. The art cafe is filled with great spirits and the owner is VERY friendly. There are kids around but they love to be involved in conversation and are willing to help with ideas since they are there all the time. The pottery isnt that expensive and to be able to characterize your piece the way you want it is awesome. On every table there is a notecard explaining when you pay, what you are paying for, how to paint it, where the supplies are, what to expect, and when it will be ready for pickup. Not to mention they are ALWAYS willing to help. It couldnt be any easier. I am always VERY satisfied with the finished product and will continue to take part in making more in the future. This place is not what I expected at all. It was run by a bunch of careless teenagers. As soon as I walked in with my family, the young girl behind the messy counter walked away, leaving us standing...clueless about what we were supposed to do first! Eventually, we sat down at a messy table, with used papertowels and old dry paint cartons everywhere. We painted, gave them our items, and left. 2 days later we returned to pick up our things. The teenagers were there, with their boyfriends, hugging and talking--paying NO attention to us as customers. Finally we asked them to retrieve our things...then began searching...in the middle of the search 1 girl left without notice. The other girl then took over and slowly found our things. Carelessly she handed them over and said ""have a great day"". more
