Explore the aquatic life in the waters of Southern California, Baja, Northern Pacific and the Tropical Pacific. Highlights include the Shark Lagoon which features more than 150 sharks you can not only see but touch too, Tropical reef habitat and the lorikeet forest. more

Call me not thrilled 12/18/2007

I was not impressed by this aquarium. The exhibits were nice and informative and fish well taken care of. I was glad I didn't pay the full admission price. I expected a full aquarium like I had seen when I lived in Boston. That aquarium was impressive, this one was not. Their 'shark lagoon' was a small sized pond with a dozen sharks in it and the lagoon was not developed at all into a interesting place to see the sharks in a natural environment. The aquarium was mainly focused on the marine environment around northern and southern california. I felt the aquarium should have been called "Aquarium of the ocean off the coast of California" as it did not represent what was in the Pacific Ocean especially in the tropical Pacific Ocean area. I will not go back again. The highlight of the trip was not the aquarium but the Border's bookstore across the street. more

Aquarium of the Pacific 3/25/2006

The Aquarium of the Pacific is the largest aquarium on the west coast. In fact, it almost feels too large. It feels like you are walking for an eternity to get through this aquarium. The great thing is that they have lots of exhibits for the kids where they can touch animals and see how things work. It is also really cool because there is an outdoor portion of the aquarium that has touch pools and they are really good about making it easy to get some good pictures of your kids. The people working there will duck out of the way and make it so that there is a really nice shot. Actually, my kids would have just been happy staying outside and playing in the touch pool instead of walking through the while aquarium. more

Amazing 3/18/2006

If you can't afford to take your family to a theme park, then you probably can afford to take them to this amazing home of fish and other sea wildlife. Regular price cost are about $20 an adult and $12 for children, and if your a Long Beach resident, you get a 1/3 price off discount. Whats also cool is that if you pay a little bit extra, you get to take the "behind the scenes tour." Basically, the whole inside of the building is filled with giant aquariums holding sealife from all around. You can walk up to the glass and see the breathtaking scenes of fish moving by with in schools and you can watch the scary sharks swim around looking for something to munch on. You can also see seahorses, and brightly colored fish bob around in the water. You can also see the amazing sea otters joke around and act foolishly with one another. You can learn everything you want to know by taking a guided tour throughout the acquarium. There is plenty of more sealife that you can see that I haven't went over yet, and this is definately an experience you can't miss. more

The Aquarium of the Pacific 3/1/2006

The Aquarium of the Pacific is a pretty nice aquarium, though it is much smaller than the big ones in places like Boston, Baltimore and San Jose. If you are used to those and come in expecting that, you'll be disappointed. But if you go ready to experience the Aquarium of the Pacific on it's own terms, you will enjoy it. It is plenty big enough, and they have a wide array of different aquatic species. They are very interacitve, too--there is even a shark habitat where you can pet the sharks. There are usually many ways to save on admission as well. If you go to a Long Beach Public Library and check out a book, you get a discount on tickets when you show them the receipt. more

Fun way to spend the day 2/28/2006

I just took my kids here and they loved it. What an incredible place! Tons of sealife...things I had never seen or heard of, so it was fun for me too. They have a part where you can touch some sea creatures, which is great. This place is so well kept and educational. I hope everyone gets a chance to visit at least once! more

Birds at an aquarium 1/30/2006

I went there to see marine animals such as cucumbers, jellyfish, regular fish, as well as sea lions. I saw all of those things and more. I particularly enjoyed the lorikeet terrarium. That is a place where you can buy some nectar for $1 and then go into a fenced and netted area where red and green lorikeets are free to land on you and eat the nectar. Makes for a great photo opportunity. more

Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific 12/22/2005

Although it is not quite as magnificent as the Monterey Aquarium the Long Beach Aquarium isn't far behind. Plan on spending the better part of a day there checking out the exhibits. There are fish tanks that represent different ocean environments. There are also some great hands-on exhibits as well as shows. Kids and adults will enjoy the experience. There are always coupons to help save on the cost of admission. more

Educational and fun 11/13/2005

I love this aquarium and cannot imagine going to another aquarium which would be as nice as this one. Being in Southern California, there are a number of places to visit besides Disneyland and Universal Studios, and this is definitely one of those places. If you get a chance to come here, bring the kids and be prepared to stay for awhile since it is expensive and there are lots to see. more

Great place to take the family 9/27/2005

The Long Beach Aquarium of the pacific is a wonderful place to take a family or to go on a date or alone for that matter. It's about $20 a ticket for adults but they also have a lot of different discounts offered throughout the year. Parking costs money in a paid parking lot. Usually you can get an all day lot for around $8. The aquarium itself is very impressive. Located right beside the ocean and they have so many different varities of fish to look at as well as sea lions and otters and even a touch exhibit where you get to feel sting rays and other sea creatures. I highly recommend taking the family there over like disneyland. Much more educational ! more

A wonderful Aquarium 9/25/2005

Aquarium of the Pacific is by far my favorite aquarium to go to within the surrounding Los Angeles vicinities. It is a wonderful museum and I like to take my daughter there whenever I get the chance. They have many exhibits available to see and I am able expose my daughter to all the different types of sea creatures first hand. I like that it is not only a fun experience for her but an educational one as well. more

Aquarium of the Pacific 9/24/2005

The Aquarium of the Pacific is a wonderful place to visit. I have been going there since I was a kid and have even gone there on school field trips too. They have a lot of sea exhibitions and they are really awesome. I really love watching the sharks being fed. The touch pools are also great. more

Don't miss the sharks! 9/20/2005

In my opinion, the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA is the absolute best aquarium. The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific comes in a close second. It's a bit pricey ($19 plus parking) but the aquarium is quite big, with lots to see and hands-on opportunities as well. Kids will love the shark exhibits, and check out the jellyfish and sea horse exhibits as well. Plan to spend a good amount of time here to see everything. more

Aquarium 8/21/2005

The Aquarium of the Pacific is a nice aquarium where you can view many different kinds of fish and also touch some of them like stingrays. The ones you can touch are harmless. You can also talk to real live scooba divers there. There are some really cool fishes you can see and you can even see sharks! more

fun and interesting 8/21/2005

This place is simply awesome. Every weird little sea creature that you could think of is here. Weird looking jellyfish, cut sea horses. morray eels, and even sharks. There is a large area that inside on 2 different levels, and then there is also a large section outside (that's where the sharks are). There is also an odd room that you go in that has birds everywhere. I do not know what that has to do with the sea, but it was interesting just the same. The only downside is that it was bit pricey. If you have AAA they gave me a discount with my AAA card. more

Aquarium Of The Pacific 8/21/2005

My family and I have been to this a aquarium several times now and we still enjoy all the sea exhibits that they have. The building is really beautiful. They have really cool exhibits and even have this really huge exhibit that is three stories tall with sharks, giant sea bass and other predators. There is a place where the kids can touch the sting rays too which is always a favorite with my kids. more

Fish, Fish 8/20/2005

This is a fun place to go to walk around for the day, but it's not that big of an aquarium. You can see most everything within a few hours. I was impressed by the jellyfish exhibit, the shark petting pools, and the gigantic sturgeon aquarium. This place has a little something for everyone and although it was $18.95 per adult admission, I truly thought it was worth the money. more

Cool Fish 8/19/2005

The best part of the long beach aquarium is the inside parts. It is very comfortable to be inside. In addition to this the fish are exotic looking and the people inside are calm and there are few screaming children. Kids will get a kick out of seeing sharks and these animals that one can't see anywhere else. more

The Aquarium is an experience you can't miss! 8/19/2005

The Aquarium of the Pacific is a wonderful addition to Long Beach. I went when it first opened and again recently. I am very pleased to see how it has expanded and changed. I believe that the aquarium allows everyone who loves the ocean a chance to see every bit of the ocean they love. If you love sharks, they have tons, you love seahorses, they have. I think it's good for part of a first date, as well as just taking the kids out for a day. The tickets are rather inexpensive. More expensive than the original $5.00 for students, but they are still reasonable. See it! more

Aquarium in Long Beach 8/18/2005

This aquarium is located in Long Beach right off of Ocean Blvd. It is a huge round building with paintings of whales all around it. It is a marvelous piece of artwork. Inside there is lots to see, many different species of fishes and other forms of sealife are displayed. Some of the interesting ones are the glow in the dark variety that live way down deep in the ocean. It is a nice place to spend the afternoon. more
