Chip and everyone at Animal Lovers do a great job grooming my two dogs, a labrador and a daschund. I just had my dogs groomed today, and am completely happy with the grooming they did on my dogs. My dogs love it there, too, and are always happy, tails wagging when I pick them up. I'm happy because they are always groomed so well and their nails are always perfect. Simon just passed after 12 years and 4 months. In that time, he knew many groomers and had many friends. He retired to Long Beach a couple of years ago and passed away today. Seven years ago, I rescued a longhaired dachshund who was a fear biter with strangers. My own dogs have smooth coats so I had never been to a groomer. Chip is a true hero to my dog Oscar. It was a Thursday night and I was trying to get Oscar an appointment for Saturday morning. I spent hours looking for just the right groomer when I came across these postings. I have to admit the things people have to say about Chip seemed to good to be true. I figured I would give him a shot and called him at around 10:30 pm. To my surprise he actually answered. Since it was so late at night I was expecting an answering machine. Chip took the time to answer all of my questions and was able to get Oscar in that weekend. I arrived a few minutes before they officially opened but there was already someone there ready to take him in. She was great. She noted all of my special request with out the usual grunts I usually get from Petsmart employees. I received a call that Oscar was ready and it was at the time they estimated he would be. This was definite first for me. When they brought him over to me he looked perfect. He hair was cut just as I asked. My dog usually goes through a depression period after every grooming but not this time. He was just as happy as he usually is. I would definitely recommend Chip and his staff. This was my second visit with my 2 Cats, Wrigley and Melrose. I like to have them groomed once every 2 months. This place is so awesome!! Chip and his staff are so good with my boys. I drop them off and pick them up a few hours later. I get them home and they are so happy to be cleaned and groomed. Their nails are done, Ears cleaned spotless, de-shedded and totally spotless. I cannot believe how anybody could write a bad review of this place unless maybe it is something personnal and not related to the grooming. This place is the most professional I have ever been to. Chip and his staff really care about your animals and try to make them as comfortable as humanly possible. My dog came home with open cuts and scabs all over her body. She was not moving, shaking, and not herself. I called Chip and demanded an explanation as to why she had cuts all over her body and was hut and in distress and he had no explanation. His response was ""everything was great"". This is a huge lie as my dog was injured here and Chip could not even tell me why! I have heard such horrible stories from other people who took their dogs here, please keep your dog as far away from this place as possilbe. Cons: This Salon Hurts Dogs more

I have a small Shih Tzu who HATES being groomed. He has been groomed in many places in Chicago, and Animal Lovers is the best! He usually hates the process, and is super stressed out throughout the ordeal...sometimes he would even come home and hide after a grooming session. Pros: Great personel, they love dogs! more

I have been bringing my dogs to Animal Lover's for over 10 years. Chip and staff have always been extremely nice to both myself and my animals. My dogs (two goldens currently, but also a pyr and a collie) always look forward to going in the store. They look fantastic when I pick them up, and it's not ridiculously expensive like some other grooming places. Spending the day in a strange environment can be stressful to some animals, but the staff at Animal Lovers really cares about the pets they groom. I have always been informed if anything looks unusual (i.e., the start of an ear infection) or if they have any concerns. I will continue to use and fully recommend them. more

We've taken our dog to Chip's business for more than three years, and it's great. Our little guy always comes back looking perfectly groomed, ready for a dog show. Also, he's used to Chip, and isn't freaked out when we take him in for grooming. We've also left him with Chip while we were away on vacation, and he always comes home in good body and spirit. The staff at Animal Lover's are so friendly and helpful. I take my maltese, Gil, there every month. They always fit him in even if it is last minute. They treat him like he is a king! I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

I have never been so happy with the service I get from Animal Lovers. Chip does the best cut on my Wheaton-mix dog. His cut is always even and grows out perfectly. It didn't matter what other salon or who cut Bailey before it was never right. I was always able to see clipper lines and would have to end up trimming something on him myself to make sure his cut would last more than 3 weeks. With Chip I can easily go the 6 weeks + or more and he still looks adorable. Two thumbs up for the friendly & caring staff here. It's been almost a year since I found this place and I know Bailey is as happy as me that I did!! more

Chip and staff are wonderful!! After taking my nervous dog there a few times she seems much more at ease. Her coat is so shiny and smells great for days! Prices are very reasonable and they are very accommodating when setting appointments. Highly recommended. Just wish I found them a few years ago. more

I have two Golden Retrievers and I have been going to Chip and his team at Animal Lovers for the past 4 years. I have tried the other places, but there is truly no comparison when it comes to Animal Lovers. Chip used to groom show dogs and knows exactly how to groom each breed. He also uses an amazing Oatmeal shampoo that makes my pups glisten for weeks. Service is always prompt but make sure you call ahead for an appointment as he fills up quickly. I promise, once you use Animal Lovers, you will never want to step foot in any of those National/Chain grooming places. His prices are very competitive but even more importantly, your dog/cat will be thanking you for days for letting Animal Lovers groom them. Chip and his staff have been keeping my dogs happy for many years, which is why I love Animal Lovers and believe you will, too. Chip thoroughly understood Riley's predecessor, Brigid, who was a character to say the least, and not the easiest dog to groom or board. When Brigid stayed at Chip's while I was away, she always came home safe, sound and amazingly calm. Riley has experienced the same trustworthy care both when groomed and when boarding. Riley is usually a little anxious when he arrives for grooming, but after getting hugs all around, he settles down and looks amazingly cute when I pick him up. I wouldn't trust Riley with anyone else--and I'm pretty sure Riley feels the same way. You couldn't ask for a better salon or boarding experience for your pet. more

I have been traveling to Clybourn from Bronzeville for the past 12 years. My standard Poodle, Armani has always been treated with the utmost care and when he leaves the salon he is straight out of the picture books. The staff is very alert while your companion is in their care. One of the staff even alerted me to a possible health issue. Thant let me know how much they care. more

My standard poodle has been going to Chip for many years, for the majority of her visits they have listened to how I want her groomed since it changes through out the year. The are very affordable and she is usually ready around the time they tell me when I drop her off. The staff is very friendly. I feel very comfortable leaving my dog in Chip's hands for the day. more
