makes physical therapy FUN 9/24/2004

This place makes physical therapy FUN and not a chore - it's in a gym setting, with lots of pro athletes, current and former, around (49ers in particular), so you feel part of a community, and not in a depressing room one-on-one with your PT. These folks rehabbed Jerry Rice, Jennifer Azzi, and lots of other people who trusted their precious limbs to them! more

  • The Active Care rehabilitation staff is extensively trained and educated on the Active Care treatment philosophy in addition to their undergraduate and graduate training. Most are licensed physical therapists, physical therapy assistants or certified athletic trainers. Many of the staff are competitive athletes and so are able to provide insight into returning back to activity after recovering from injury.

Our facility is equipped with the latest exercise equipment and space for patient treatment and exercise.

The equipment includes stationery "spinning type" bikes, Stairmasters, elliptical machines, free weights and lower and upper body strengthening machines. There are also locker rooms with showers and lockers.. There is no "typical" Active Care patient,as we see all types of individuals; from high level professional or Olympic athletes to individuals who have been hurt on the job or in motor vehicle accidents.

The common denominator amongst our patients is that they are interested and willing to do the work required to achieve the maximum outcome possible given their particular injury or situation. All are treated with the same treatment philosophy emphasizing biomechanics and active rehabilitation.

On a given day in the Active Care Facility,it is not uncommon to see a patient being treated for a total knee replacement,a recreational athlete,a professional athlete and a patient injured from an on the job accident. This typically provides all types of patients with inspiration and empathy.

Additionally, patients are motivated by the friendly, cooperative and energetic atmosphere that exists at the Active Care Clinic.
