It's fixed! 1/22/2012

I called A-1 American after another company failed twice at repairing my heating system. The A-1 American office person (Mary?) was understanding and friendly. She listened patiently when I told her about my frustration. I had a technician out that same afternoon. The tech (Adam) was very nice and explained what was going on with the heating system. He repaired the system: I have heat and am very happy with the service. I will continue to use A-1 American as they got the job done and I haven’t had to call them back to get the same issue re-fixed! more

Professional and polite! 1/20/2012

My heat unit was not working anymore. After looking over the unit, the technician found that the switch was bad and replaced it. He was professional and polite. The office had told me that he would be at the house between 1 and 3 in the afternoon. He called at about 2 to tell me that he was running a little late and that he would be there at around 3.30, which he was. I appreciated his courtesy call. more

Good work, excellent service! 1/19/2012

We've had a great experience with A-1 American. Our water heater gave out and they had somebody out a few hours later. I somehow missed the phone call when they were about to show up but I called the oftfice. They transferred me right away and they were at the door 20 minutes later. The guys were professional, hardworking (the heater was up in the attic), and personable. more

I called A-1 American for some plumbing issues in my master bathroom. Larry and his helper took care of the toilet and fixed the shower as well. Everything's working and they left the place clean - which my wife appreciated. more

The A-1 American plumber took care of business right away when he stepped into my house. He did a great job checking everything and fixing what needed to be fixed(leak detection/new toilet tank/shower valve). He was polite and was very nice when our 5-year old walked up to him and asked him what he was doing. - I'm glad I called them and would call them again. more

Nick and Mark did an excellent job. They replaced/repaired a section of the sewer line and worked diligently and thoroughly throughout the time they were at my house. I found them honest and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them to anybody who wants a job well done. more

The heat is on! 1/5/2012

The workers were never here when they said they would be. I'm not saying they were a little late... they were hours late without calling to say they were running behind schedule. So my schedule was totally disrupted for 4 days, but since we are on break that wasn't too big a deal. When they were here, they were polite. They seemed like nice guys. They replaced a ""gas pack"" heat and air conditioning unit. The inspector was very thorough. Everything ""looks"" good. One thing I question is that they did not replace the pipe that they said would not pass inspection because it was rusty... they painted over it instead. I don't know much about this type of work, but my dad would have at least sanded off the rust first. The work is guaranteed so that is comforting, and I had coupons from the phone book that made me feel like I got a good deal. I'm glad the work is done and we have heat for winter. Good value, excellent work! 1/5/2012

I'm glad I called A-1 American. The technician (Herman) called ahead to say when he was going to show up. I knew I had to pay $78 diagnostic fee. I figured I'd let him tell me what was wrong and then decide if I was gonna go ahead and let them work on the unit. He gave me an exact estimate of everything and what needed to be done and replaced. After seeing him work I got a good impression and gave him green light to do the work. He was knowledgeable and thorough. I might have gotten a better deal pricewise with another company but I knew he was going to do a great job - which he did. Heat is working again and the family is happy! more

A-1, not just their name 12/29/2011

Nick, Mark, Tony, and Ray are A-1 techs. I discovered my watermain was leaking and scheduled an appt. They called EARLY and said they were on their way and arrived EARLY. A-1 has a nifty little tool that allows them to snake through the old line and split it while laying the new line behind it. This was going to save me from digging up my concrete driveway and patching it. Luckily, my job looked like it could be done with this tool. I had family coming in and didn't want to risk waiting on other estimates so I went forward with work after getting their quote. I felt comfortable doing so based on their early arrival and honest approach to their costs compared to other companies, admittedly higher than some, lower than others. They encountered a few problems due to the install of the original main line, right through the dang foundation. WHO DOES THAT? Did they abandon not digging up my driveway to make it easier on themselves? NOPE!! Did they knock off at 5 to come back the next day? NOPE, they STAYED LATE!! Instead of digging into my driveway to find theblockage, they opted for the MUCH HARDER avenue of behind the garage wall under my stairs. Not much room to work there. All four stayed until they were able to chip out the old line from the foundation. And it wasn't warm either, even with my space heater. After cleaning up, they said they would return by 0830 to 0900 the next day. They called EARLY (0700) and asked if they could come by now to get a jump on the day. Did I say no? H@#$ NO I didn't say no. After a few hours the new line was in. There were two concrete patches in the garage, both concealed. One more trip the following day to move the water heater back into place and the job was complete. OH, and they also moved my main shutoff making it much more accessable for emergency shutoff. It was previously located BEHIND the water heater. After starting the job, I made a few more calls to other companies and got quotes based on the footage of line and location of it. Some were higher, some were lower, but NONE said they could do it without digging up and patching the driveway. Their tool isn't going to work on every job, but I sure am glad it worked on mine. Personable, thoughtful, fast! 12/27/2011

We had Jeff and Randy come out yesterday to fix our garbage disposal. Within two and a half hours after my calling the office, they had come to our house, fixed the problem, cleaned up, and had left again. They were very personable and thoughtful. They had to run to their trucks several times to get more tools, and each time they came back they took off their shoes before entering the house. I appreciated this even more so because it was raining hard outside. I was so impressed with the professionalism and kindness of the two technicians that I called the office back to let them know. more

Jeff and his helper came to our house to install a toilet that we had purchased ourselves. They did a thorough job and called ahead of time before showing up. I'm happy with their service and would call them again. Very professional. more

This has been a great experience. My kitchen sink clogged up. Got family coming in from out of town and lots of cooking to do. I called A-1 American and had a plumber out a little later. It's all fixed. The two guys were quick and professional, no hassle at all. I'm glad I called - I had no time to wait around for long!\r more

Fantastic job and great teamwork! 12/22/2011

My rental property needed a water line replaced. Nick and Mark did a fantastic job. They were knowledgeable, and courteous. I was impressed with their teamwork as well. They troubleshot the problem right away and are obviously used to work with each other. They took care of everything - They even threw grass seeds on the ground when they were done to make the area look clean. I was worried that I had to do that myself. I did some price comparison, and they were right within the average range for the job they did. Awesome job! more

We had a gas leak, and Nick and Mark from A-1 Amerian came out to put new piping in the house. They were very cooperative and very polite. I would recommend those guys to anyone who wants a job done by professional and experienced workers. more

RIP OFF!!! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! 11/25/2011

My gas furnace was out to start the 2011 heating season. I called ""A-1 American"" to see if their service would match their commercials. Big Mistake! I was told that I had a bad high limit switch and a bad gas valve. Their ""Technician"" quoted me $890 for the gas valve (a $100 part wholesale) and $420 for the high limit switch (a $20 part wholesale)... I mean ""COME ON"". He said ""with all that's wrong with your furnace you'd be better off replacing it....that'll be $3800 for you, since you're a veteran"".... RIP OFFS!!!! I called an honest guy referred to me by my next door neighbor and he charged me $50 for the service call and told me that the Furnace Control Module was at fault and the part would cost $140 (wholesale for $119 so that's fair) and installation would be $60 for a half hour of labor but $50 of that was covered by the service call. So I'm up and running for a grand total of $150. No new gas valve, no new high limit switch. Just a bad board to replace and we're done. A-1 sure doesn't Perform like their A-1..... They might be first int he phone book but that's were it ends. Buyer beware!!! more

Just in the nick of time!! 11/18/2011

Last night the toilet would not flush and then the bath tub started to bubble up with yucky stuff. The next morning we called A-1 American Services and they came in a flash. They were so nice on the phone and just the same when they arrived. They snaked the line and now the toilet and tub are fine! As for the price($240) the customer service was so great I would pay rather than deal with a grumpy person. It made me feel like they cared and I was glad to give them the money. I will use them from now on and I recommend them to friends and family. Thanks A_1 American Services!! LOL more

DO NOT USE THEM... 10/29/2011

I would give a negative rating if I could do not use this company. They charged me $142 for a fuse. That I could only get from them. And told me I needed a new fuse box $325 since now my blower was not working, but it was working when he got there. I found 2 fuses at home depot $3.97 and WE put the fuse box back together correctly after the service man left and now it works just fine. I am writing a complaint letter to them and the BBB. I should have read the reviews closer and I would not have been out $142. Do not use them. We complained to them and they sent us a letter that i posted on our facebook about how they did not overcharge us...do not use them...they will lie to make money and then not stand behind their product since we were not happy with their service when we ask for our money back they stopped talking to us;;do not use them more
