great little EV bar 5/5/2009

I used to live in the EV and hang out at this place.... I love this bar and always drop by when I'm in the city - which I was last week - I live in London now and we need more bars like this one over here. ...It's your typical EV lounge, a bit cool, a bit crazy ...with an interesting, diverse crowd, totally unpretentious . It's a great little place, I've got to know the guys who run it , and they're always really nice and friendly. Would fully recommend it for a night out ..... Pros: un pretentious more

Great Energy! 5/4/2009

I was there this past sat. night and it was packed, the vibe was great and we danced for hours. I was puzzled by the review I read before about it being empty on the same night but we didn't get there until around 1:30 so maybe that had something to do with it. The staff was the best we got hooked up with lots of shots and the music was so good! I came with a group for a friend of a friends birthday party and I will be booking my birthday party there 2 months from now. My friends and I have high standards for our hang outs and this place gave us exactly what we have come to expect from an L.E.S. Saturday night. Pros: Amazing Staff, great music, hot crowd more

Love this place to just chill out and have some drinks. Anna the bartender is awesome and everyone that works there is always extremely nice and helpful. Pros: Great staff and comfy seats Cons: sometimes music is too loud. more

Best Birthday Ever! 2/24/2009

I had my 23rd birthday at 40C this past weekend on Saturday night. The manager, Nicole, was extremely helpful. She saved the back room for me but I ended up having the bar to my party the whole night. The music was great. Everyone was dancing and we all had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend having a party here. more

Best Dance Floor in the East Village 10/12/2008

The DJs are amazing (especially on Fridays) and the dance floor can't be beat for a venue of that size. Between the couches in the back, the booths in the front, the stage, the projections, the go gos on the bar, and the cute DJs... this venue is what a good bar in NYC should be and so often isnt! more

beautiful lounge 10/8/2008

I had been to a birthday party at 40c last year and had such a great time I decided to have my 30th bday at the bar. Since the back room was already booked, the manager was nice enough to reserve me 2 large booths. I was surprised(and relieved) when they didn't charge me for the booths or make us do bottle service. They even brought over free shots! The dj was fantastic! I can't say enough about this place, thanks guys!! more

Coolest place to hang with friends and have a party! 10/7/2008

My girlfriends and I went to "40c" on a Saturday night for a party. We called ahead and reserved a space( no fee) The place has a cool vibe, the drinks are cheap and the staff was great ( especially the door guy St EYES). The music was awesome....old school hip hop..r&b.."80's rock.....the mix was awesome...we stayed til the end. I highly recommend this spot and they'll see me soon. Pros: Vibe..music..great place for a party. Cons: a few walking blocks from subway (worth the hike) more

GREAT little lounge in the east EV!! 10/7/2008

i love the atmosphere here - loungey and laid-back with great music and friendly people. the djs rock! there's also a great little back room with vintage couches and chairs. we came here for a bachelorette party recently and were set up with a booth at no-charge. our friend (the bachelorette) had a GREAT time and even got up on the little stage to dance. its hard to find places worth going back to - 40c definitely is! its a great spot in alphabet city - i plan to become a regular =) check it out! Pros: atmosphere (people, music, venue's space) Cons: a little far east (but ave c is hoppin!) more

Saturday Night is BACK!!! 9/28/2008

I went to 40c on Saturday night and its back to the Hot parties it was always known for! Great Music, R&B, Old School & New School Hip-Hop! Very Hip & good looking crowd. White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Everything!!!!Private room in the back with private bathroom you can reserve by contacting the bar and talking to Nicole. This one of the coolest Saturday night parties around! I will Definitely be back this Saturday and Every Saturday I can!!!! V_SAL Pros: Very Mixed crowd with good looking and friendly people!
