I was at their sister bar..Your Place Sat. night for a friends b-day. As we are always busy this was a treat for us. I paid first for a coke and 1 beer with my credit/debit card. She asked if I wanted to open a tab...I said no. Then later ordered wings and fries. They were horrible. Over cooked and dried out. I told them and they did nothing. I paid again with card & left. Note...at NO TIME did I have a tab. I paid each time I had ordererd. Tonight I looked at my bank account online...and discovered that the first charge for the drinks was totally wrong and the food charge was doubled. I called the bar to ask them why. I was not upset or rude...just wondering what happened. I spoke to a man who when I asked for the manager, laughed and said "well he guessed he was the acting manager". I was trying to explain WHY I was calling and what we got...he rudely interupted me and raised his voice to me...yes yelling...and told me it was their NORMAL...STANDARD procedure to DOUBLE charge every customer who uses their credit card to pay! That they hold it for 3 or more days to make sure they will get paid. That most bars and restaurant do that. I told him I have never had a bar or restaurant do that. He yelled at me saying yes they do...and all of their OUR PLACE/MY PLACE bars here and in St. Aug do. I tried to finish speaking and tell him had I known that.. I would have paid cash instead. Again interupting me...He started yelling and told me that its posted there in the bar. I asked where...because I never saw a sign saying that...and as it IS dark in there and nothing was on bar in front of me or pointed out to me.. I still felt bartender should have explain it at time of paying. He got really nasty then and I got upset at that point and said the whole thing sounded odd to me because the charges showing on my card STILL were not reflecting the right amount EVEN IF I had been double charged like he said their policy was, That I was going to call the owner and my bank about it. When he started yelling again I hung up. I went to tell my fiance what happened. While I was gone the "MAN"called my phone back and left a rather LONG Smart Aleck message on my voicemail. YES PEOPLE HE STAR 69 me!!!!! Imagine my surprise to get a call back from him when I never gave him my # and he even made a laughing comment about it on his message to me. He thought it was funny to do it!
I then called their other bar "MY PLACE" and told the manager there what happened. He said the guy has already gotten in trouble before for rudeness to other customers. That this is the last straw. He also said the man should NEVER have called me back like that. I asked him to take my name and # and have the owner call me tomorrow if not sooner. He said he would. I do hope the owner calls me.
Nowhere on my receipt does it authorize for them to charge double or hold more then I agreed to pay. The bar and grill was dark, and there was no posted sign on the bar where I was.
I want to say...I was NOT rude to this guy. I did not raise my voice until near the end after all his rudeness to me. Then instead of losing it, I stated what I had to say and as he was yelling I hung up rather then get into a non-productive arguement.
He claimed on the message that I was rude to him. I wasn't the one who kept interupting and yelling. He does NOT have good customer service skills and I hope the owner is as upset that a customer was treated this way as I was. I have been to their MY PLACE bar twice before as it is nearer to where we live. They are very nice and great with customers there from what I saw. I would go to MY PLACE again so long as that man from OUR PLACE does NOT work there.
