Review content:
We had driven by several times, wanting to try Ventas and finally did last night. Great food, great wine but a couple of issues you would not expect at this price point. On walking in the maitre di just stood looking at us until I finally asked for a table, kind of odd I thought. The food was amazing, I had grilled swordfish, my wife the Kobe beef. Also a great wine list., though as mentioned in other posts, rather pricey. The service was acceptable at best, server wasn't sure of all elements of a dish, when asked at the end of the meal did not know the vintage of the wine we were drinking, small things yes but expected at this price point. I have gotten equal service at restaurants at half the price. I guess my feeling is that it was good food and wine, just not worth $60 a person.
I also feel their money would be better spent for a sommelier,
but thats just my $.02
Pros: Great menu and wine list
Cons: ambience, level of service
