This is the third time my grandson (of whom I have legal custody)has been at what is now called Longleaf Hospital. He was admitted on Monday; it is now Thursday and the only communication I have had from them was from the business office wanting money. I have tried calling but can't get through to anyone who knows anything. He has called me briefly, but I can't find out anything about his treatment plan. I have no input or say so about what us happening to him. He attempted suicide 3 times in the past 3 weeks and I am terrified they will discharge him too soon and he will be successful next time, but I can't get in touch with anyone to give them any input or get information. Two years ago he was there with a broken leg and the staff roughed him up more than once, slamming him into a wall. On another occasion he was there and they were going to release him even though they admitted he was still suicidal and possibly homicidal because he had stayed the maximum number of days. I had to fight to get him transferred to a long-term facility. There is no accountability and no concern about customer relations. When a teen is in crisis in Louisiana, they just get sent to the first facility that has a bed. Parents have no rights or input in the decision about where they go, there treatment plan, how long they stay, etc. The patient is just a number.
