We recently bought a house from Comfort Homes in Dayton Woods. We liked the super on the job and his subs-they all seemed like good guys. Unfortunately, our experience with owner, Julian Stewart and his seller's agent/wife Denise Baker was very disappointing. Instead of addressing any of our concerns in a professional manner, they constantly told us that we did not have to buy the house if we were not happy. Well, guess what? If we were not happy, we never would have submitted an offer--we simply expected the lot to be cleared properly and the house to be built per code. \r

So, if you're interested in buying a Comfort Home like we did, please consider this advice. First of all, find a strong buyer's agent--someone really good that will work hard and truly represent you--it costs the seller, not the buyer. Our agent did not stand up to this builder enough--I regretted using her--so please do your homework so you don't make the same mistake. Second, please make sure you hire an experienced and thorough home inspector. Do not rely on the county inspectors. Find someone top-notch in the field that will protect you. No matter what kind of ""deal"" you get on the house, do not tolerate anything less than a properly built home. It is inevitable for mistakes to happen during construction, but make sure that Mr. Stewart holds his contractors accountable to fix them and do the job right. And just because his subs have always done something a certain way, it does not necessarily mean it is correct.\r

A few other things we learned....you must negotiate the trees that you want removed from the lot in your offer. And also, do not rely on the MLS listing for correct dimensions--measure everything yourself if possible. Overall, you can get a decent house--you just have to invest a lot of time and really work for it.
