We are ardent supporters of public education, but our smart, well-behaved girl was getting lost in the shuffle in the hands of otherwise very competent and dedicated public school teachers. Worried that she wasn't getting the skills and attention she needed, we decided to visit Oak Hill School.\r \r Prior to visiting, we were worried that Oak Hill would be a snooty place or that it would be too pressurized and imbalanced of an academic environment. However, our fears were immediately dispelled at our site visit and our hopes were confirmed very soon after our daughter began her fifth grade year. The tuition is a huge stretch for us, but we have not regretted a single dime that we have spent and we signed up for sixth grade without hesitation.\r \r Why? The teachers are amazingly dedicated and all of the ones with whom I have spoken are so grateful for the manageable class sizes and the relief from the constant, excessive standardized testing.
