Businiess name:  Oriental Oasis
Review by:  Melanie E.
Review content:
In spite of the politically incorrect name, Oriental Oasis is a great full-service salon with stylists who specialize in African-American hair. Everyone here seems to do good work and have a following. They use good products and the prices are, on average, $20 to $30 lower than salons of a similar caliber. You might have a wait on some days, because this place is popular, but the stylists seem to go out of their way to work everyone in and out as quickly as they can. The owner, Touette (not sure if this is the correct spelling), actually is known around the district for her talent at eyebrow waxing. Her prices are a little higher than what you might find at the corner nail salon, but comparable to those at other upscale salons. This also is a good place to find hard-to-locate hair products. They sell those here too, as well as nail polish and beauty accessories. If you can go on a weekday, that's the best time -- you'll get in and out. The location is pretty good too, near the McPherson Square metro stop.
