Of course, the review by the business owner's daughter is biased. Miss Ishani, please come to the real world and meet the people who got ripped off by your loving dad !!! My name is Kamal Alwis I bought a ticket from this guy several years ago to go to Sri Lanka. Apparently I had paid $ 240 more (that was like 7-8 years ago) than the market price, later I learnt. The service I received was very very poor for the high price I paid. I was given a cheap airline with more than 2 days for the connecting flight. The ethic in the industry is that the agent has to provide hotel facilities, but Upul refused to do so. Of course now I buy my tickets online thanks to my daughter who knows about online ticket purchases better than me. Actually she is the one who is helping me post this review. The days you paid for a travel agent to book your flights is history now. Mr. Upul, your time is over. What prompted me to write this review is a recent incident. I was in Sri Lanka last year and I wanted to send some money to my wife here. I came to know that Upul's Travel facilitates this and paid money from Colombo to be collected from USA. My wife had to take 23 phone calls to USA office to collect her money. After the Colombo office had confirmed the payment, USA office has told her they never got an advice from Colombo to pay her money and asked her to call Colombo from here and check it. How efficient is that? After that, they have again delayed paying money citing several reasons. My wife, who urgently needed money at that time called me and asked to send money again this time through money gram, which she was able to collect within hours. I had go through my lawyer to get our money from this guy. After what happened to my family I am advising the Sri Lankan community here in California not to buy tickets from him, nor use his money sending facility. Buy your tickets online via kayak. Use either money gram or western union to send money to Sri lanka !!!
