Review content:
I bought a Groupon for the FOY Academy. While I knew my mani/pedi would be from a student, I never imagined it would be so bad. From the time I stepped in the door, my negative experience began. I wandered around trying to find someone. The girl scheduled to do my nails was a no show so I was assigned to a girl that does hair and doesn't know nails. While the girl was very nice and apologized for not being prepared, it didn't fix the fact that I paid for and expected a spa mani/pedi. Cheri, the owner, is the one who assigned me to this student and even I could see the look on her face that she wasn't comfortable. I asked for a French manicure and was told she 'could try' or find someone else who could. My 'spa pedi' was a bucket of soapy water because she couldn't find the foot bath. Neither my fingernails nor toenails were trimmed and none of my cuticles done. I removed my mani as soon as I got home and re-did my nails myself. I blame the academy for 1) not having anyone to greet me knowing that I had an appt, 2) not having the proper supplies available, 3) knowing that this girl got stuck with me without notice, someone should have checked in on us to see how things were going. When I went to check out, the register was out of paper and there was no one around for assistance. All of this being said, the girl was very nice and did the best she could given the short notice. My gripe is that there was no supervision. Had someone been present much of this could have been avoided or rectified. Instead I lost TWO HOURS of my morning, $25, and ended up doing my own nails anyway.
