Review content:
Though the apartments are outdated, the floor plans are nice and I like my apartment for the most part because I have a lot of space, which is great. However, if something small breaks I usually fix it myself rather than having to wait for maintenance to get around to doing it. I think the maintenance staff is very nice, I just don't think that their time is managed effectively by the management office. I've lived here for over 10 years, and for certain maintenance needs I have literally waited years for them to be repaired. For example, my heat has not worked properly in 5 years, my deck is rotting off, and I have been scalded in the shower twice because the water temperature has a mind of its own. If I could afford to move I definitely would.
The real issue is the constant and relentless noise generated by management and maintenance staff that really drives me insane. The maintenance crew uses gas powered leaf blowers at a minimum of 3 times a day for a couple hours at a time, blowing around dust and pollen (not leaves, mind you). This is like listening to nails on a chalkboard to me. Not only that, but they start the blowers right at 8:00 am (EVEN ON SATURDAYS so forget about sleeping in)!
The most recent irritation has been listening to pressure washers for 2 weeks straight (from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) everyday as they were having the parking lots pressure washed. Who does that? And today I wake up and sit down to enjoy my coffee only to be jolted from my seat by the sound of a jackhammer outside my window at 8:00 am (no, I'm not kidding). They are tearing up the parking lots and undoubtedly I will be listening to jackhammers for the next couple weeks...oh, along with the leaf blowers, can't forget about the leaf blowers.
This apartment complex is anything but a peaceful setting, and it's nothing like a PARK! That's for sure. I think it would be more accurate to say that it is like living in the middle of a perpetual construction zone with really bad tenant parking.
So, if you love the sound of leaf blowers in the morning (mid-morning, afternoon, and all day long) coupled with jackhammers, pressure washers, etc. than you will feel right at home at Royal Oaks Apartments.
