Businiess name:  Chang's Tae Kwon Do America

Review content:
Masters Y.S. and Catherine Chang run this martial arts school in the traditional way, including not just punching and kicking, but also the philosophy of tae kwon do including 5 tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverence, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. Tae kwon do is not a religion - it's actually compatible with any religion - but it does emphasize the mind-body-spirit connection; a little bit like yoga. There is no required fitness level to start, but be prepared for a consistently high level of cardio activity. If you are not very flexible, you will definitely benefit from the stretching routines. Hint: be prepared to protect any weak joints. Wearing a brace on my arthritic knee, to help cushion the impact, has allowed me to perform virtually all the techniques pain-free. Each class begins with meditation, giving you a brief quiet time to gather your thoughts and calm down. The instruction emphasizes courtesy and respect, and takes into account each person's unique strengths. I enrolled in tae kwon do to keep my kids company, and what a great experience it has been for all of us! In addition to adult and children's classes there is a family class, a licensed after-school program with transportation (pickup at 6 p.m. is great for working parents), and a licensed summer day camp program for children ages 6 - 14. All instructors are certified in CPR, and Master Catherine Chang is a licensed professional nurse. Master Y.S. Chang coached the South Korea national demo team and is highly involved and well regarded in tae kwon do leadership organizations locally, nationally and internationally. It is amazing to have such a quality resource right here in Haverhill. Now after five years of training I am helping to teach the classes, and have earned a second degree black belt. I can feel how much stronger, calmer, and more focused I have become - I can think more clearly, my stress level is reduced, and I have gained the skills to defend myself and protect others. I am so grateful each day that I can learn something new. Tae kwon do is helping me increase my ability to achieve my goals and to help others.
