For forty years, the Hernandez family has served traditional Mexican food with warm Mexican hospitality at Kansas City's Jalisco Restaurants. For thirty-seven of those years (while dozens of ostensibly-Mexican chain places opened and closed) I have stayed happy with for-real Mexican people serving me my for-real Mexican favorites.
Pros: plenty of great food, conservative prices, extensive menu plus buffet, good folks
Cons: parking is often inadequate, decor is OK but dated, few frills
