If I could give it NO STARS, I would. I had planned an event here for the end of this month. And even though I knew the place was often very hot inside and the food was mediocre and would sit for hours and hours toward the end of the buffet, I still decided on this place because it was usually pretty slow and I needed to hold a one hour presentation in a peaceful setting where the agents could hear the speaker. The owner said he would accommodate 10-20 people with appetizers (at full price) and it was a centrally located venue so I was set. I had the flyers printed (90 of them at .59 each), passed them out at different broker shops in DFW for two weeks, sent email blasts, confirmed guests and then BAM. Everything fell apart when the owner went nuts. I brought 10 flyers to the restaurant yesterday (because he told me I could set them there) and once he saw we were charging $15 per person for the event, he immediately said he wanted me to pay him $350 or we couldnt come. I was shocked. Mind you, I dont even LOVE this place to begin with and now this guy is going crazy! AND ive done all of the leg work to get people there! (and i explained to him as i had before that the would be professionals from all over DFW coming so he would be getting new business out of this) AND we are one week from my event. I was appalled. I explained to him (and showed him) that when I had first come in, i had written down every single thing we discussed. (He handed me the pen!!) He had told me the number of people was fine. he had told me exactly what food to order and told me when to call in and confirm the food menu. He even had my date circled on his calendar on the wall. (Go look, its still up) He said he didnt care! I explained that the money was not going to me at all (it isnt) and that it was going to the speaker but he wouldn't budge. I was almost in tears and then things really went bad. He started screaming at me to get out of his restaurant. He came from around the counter and was yelling obscenities and told me to leave. The way he acted blows my mind. Oh and in the middle of all of this, one of my clients (and a good friend) calls and I set the phone down so he can hear all of this. He was shocked as well. There was no provocation, nothing. I think he just saw that we were charging for the event (because we HAD to and not because we wanted to) and wanted the money. i will never never never come here again. And I encourage you not to either. Besides, the food is a MILLION times better at Saffron House. =) Oh and just so you know, when I first got there (at 3pm) they were cleaning up from lunch buffet and I asked him what do they do with all of the leftover food from the buffet and he said they serve it at DINNER. Im so serious.
