Visitors BEWARE! If you are looking for a fun, safe experiance for your family, DO NOT visit the state fair on the weekends or at night. We arrived on Saturday at 4:00. It was so crowded that we could not even walk in some areas. My children were pushed and a man almost spit right on him. People were walking around smoking pot and smoking cigarettes while in line. The teenagers looked and acted like gang bangers and did not hesitate to cut in line. The lines were atleast an hour long and didn't move because of the people coming in from the sides instead of going to the back. My husband and I got separated and our cell phones did not have a signal. I was told to go to the Expo Center where I could page my husband and have him meet me. He went and did the same at a different location. The problem with this was that there were probably 30 people in there with the same problem, so he was paging me asking me to meet him at one location, while I was paging him to meet me at a different location. Due to all the pages they never connected myself and my husband and we were both inside waiting on each other. While in there several crying children were lost, and the staff and police on duty acted frustrated and like they could care less. I have filed a complaint with the Wake County Sherrifs department. There should be a limit on how many people can attend the fairgrounds at one time. Not safe! Not fun! Not family friendly!!!!
