Review content:
I needed to have my hair cut and colored for a very special New Year's Eve event. Most of the salons in the area were booked but when I called Hi Tech the receptionist assured me there was a stylist available for the amount of time my cut/color was going to take. (I explained to her that I have VERY long thick hair that tends to be stubborn with color) It ended up being a DISASTER. First, I had to wait 20 minutes when I arrived even though I was on time. I told the stylist I didn't want layers, but she added them in anyway. (Saying my hair was too thick and needed to be "broken up" whatever that means) She was incredibly abrasive and overbearing insisting she was the expert and I should just relax and let her do what she felt was best. I wanted some subtle high and lowlights blended in but she gave me streaks that look overprocessed and dated. By the time she handed me the mirror and flipped the chair around so I could see the back of my hair in the mirror I was nearly in tears. She offered to fix the color but I was running late and had to leave. Plus, I was scared to let her do any more! I ended up wearing my hair that night in an up-do that my friend did for me when I got home. AND I'm going to another salon next week to have the cut/color amended. All in all, it wasn't the worst experience I've had (my mom took me to have a poodle perm when I was 10) but I am very disappointed with the skills of my stylist at Hi Tech. Pros: its one of the only salons in south jersey. Cons: stylist was lacking technical knowledge.
