Best

I'm currently pregnant with my first child. And some of these reviews are correct, the Bellevue office is dingy looking and the front desk staff isn't all that warm. However, if y...

Worst

Please note that my low rating is not for the OBs I saw, but for the receptionists at the front desk and also the sonographer who took my ultrasound. The receptionists are very c...

Dr Otto 10/29/2006

She is very nice, and KNOWS HER STUFF.. I am a 36 year old woman who has been not so good about pap smears {as in never had one} and exams. I also have irragular bleeding. She was very flexible, and took me in as a new patient this last Tuesday Oct 24th 2006. Dr Oto took the time to sit with My Husband David and I, and LISTEN to us as we talked about my Medical history. She wanted to do a Uteine Biopsy that day, but I turned white, and started to shake. She was so understanding that she said lets do an ultrasound first, but I highly recoment a biopsy. I WANT to be SEDATED for a Uterine Biopsy. Who do I contact to be asleep for this procedure. Thanks.. Cathy Ford. FordEowyn@aol.com more

Great group of doctors 9/6/2005

My doctor in this group in Ann Kolwitz, but I have seen several doctors in this group, including the nurse practitioners, through two pregnancies, and never been unhappy with any of them. Their main office is in Bellevue right across from the hospital, but they also have an office in Issaquah, with some doctors some days, and I find that is usually more convenient for me. more

Midwife in the hospital is the best of both worlds 8/19/2005

When my pregnant wife talked about getting a midwife I wasn't terribly thrilled. I have a great deal of faith in modern medicine and using a midwife seemed a bit dicey. I agreed on the condition that the delivery would take place in a hospital where there were "real" doctors in case anything went wrong. Peggy Kibbel is the nurse/midwife we selected and she was great. Instead of having a pool of doctors to work with we had just her. We saw her for every prenatal appointment and she was there at the delivery. Peggy's a no nonsense kind of person, but with a great bedside manner. She listened to our wishes, but when the time came for a decision it was based solely on what was best for mom and the baby. I have no doubt that if we have more kids we'll continue to use Peggy. more

A Great Place to Have a Pregnancy 8/1/2005

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Haines of Overlake OB/GYN as my OB when I was pregnant with my second child. He was a wonderful doctor. He always put my mind at ease by taking all of my pregnancy concerns seriously. His assistant nurse was also great. The only drawback of this clinic was that they often got behind in their appointments, and I had to wait up to one hour after my appointment time to see the doctor. This happened over half the time. I also had to make appointments very far in advance (at least a month for OB appointments, several months for a yearly checkup) in order to get in. more

never been so happy with an ob/gyn 5/16/2005

i'll try to keep this brief but it won't be easy. when i first started searching for a gyn, i wanted a female. 3 docs from overlake ob/gyn were highly recommended to me, 2 female and one male. i tried to get appts w/the females first but could not so i figured i'd try the guy - dr. michael lawler - and if i didn't like him i'd switch. once i saw him for a visit i knew right away that i'd stick with him and i'm so glad i did. first - his nurses. wonderful, amazing, nice, knowledgeable. always answer your questions, always call you back in a timely manner. now, the doc. dr. lawler was great as a gyn. answered all of my questions and did so with an appropriate amount of info. not a yes-or-no answer and not a long, drawn out explanation. he educates his patients and it benefits us all. he made me feel very comfortable wrt the exam, and i had no issues/problems, etc. then i got pregnant. i'd never ever ever go to anyone else as an OB if i could help it. this is really his specialty, and seattle magazine's annual 'best docs in seattle...as voted by other docs' agreed in 2003 - he was named 'best OB'. he LOVES his OB part of the practice and it shows. you get a lot of in-office ultrasounds, which is cool (starting at 6-8 weeks!). he's pro-preventative tests but doesn't push them on you. he spends time every month going over what is happening with the baby, what their size should be, etc. i felt 1000% comfy with his level of care. then...the birth. overlake is listed as one of the best places in WA to give birth, so that alone is a comfort. dr. lawler loves delivering babies and it really shows. the nurses at the hospital absolutely rave about him and it's genuine. i had a complicated birth and ended up having a c-section and he made me feel well-taken care of the entire time. he also worked with me on some hard decisions for my second child's delivery (vbac vs. repeat c-section, early delivery due to early labor vs. hospital stay and trying to stop labor, etc). i literally have 0 complaints about the care i've gotten from him at any point, especially during my pregnancies/deliveries. in addition, the office is easy to get to (very close to overlake hospital) and has plenty of parking. more
