If you've got a sweet tooth in Modesto, head to McHenry Village and check out what's coming out of the ovens at Village Baking. On a typical day they will have a large variety of loaf cakes, round cakes and sheet cakes including such specialties as black forest, baklava and banana bread. Speaking of bread, these folks make their own baguettes, rye and white breads and even beingnets and other donuts. I can't have sugar, but they've got me fixed with sugar free macaroons and chocolate chip cookies. There is also a deli counter where fresh sandwiches are made daily.
