The Yale ObGyn department is generally good for basic gynecologic care (I can't speak to the OB in OBGyne). One thing that you can rely upon is sympathetic care in an emergency - all the folks I've ever seen have cared deeply for their patients, which is an impressive thing to say. High marks for meeting the emotional needs of the average patient.
That said, sometimes the fact that these folks see a lot of college students clouds their judgement. I was forced to switch care providers when I had a serious problem that was NOT "stress related," as I was repeatedly told by one nurse-midwife.
Of the folks I know:
Deborah Meredith - excellent.
Betsy Cole - good for a routine pelvic exam, but quick to dismiss any concerns you bring up
Ann Ross (no relation) - excellent, and well versed with the University's other health resources for women
