Roberts Hardware is a reminder that even through the beats, the hippies, and all the dilapidation that has happened since, there are folks who have lived in Haight for one reason or another, just doing their thing, probably slightly annoyed by the hectic scene ebbing and flowing around their regular lives. These people don't need $150 pairs of jeans or a 3-foot dragon bong so much as caulking, paint, hardware, etc. That explains how through the highs and the lows, Roberts has stuck it out since 1931!
