Forgive the bad pun of the name, because this is a really cool store. Packed into this space are racks and racks of vintage clothes. If you’re willing to put the time in, you’ll find something. I almost always do. Clothes are sold by the pound, which means a huge score if you’re buying a flimsy sun dress or a t-shirt. A tweed suit on the other hand can get a little pricy compared to other places in town. You have to be careful, because the way fabric flops around and distributes its weight, it can be difficult to estimate how heavy your finds will be. This can lead to some nasty surprises when you actually belly up to the scale. One of the best things about this place are the fabric bins in the back. They buy old curtains from a German dealer who I think gets them from old hotels. Again, the heavy fabric can get expensive, though when we were in there last month on a mission to reupholster our aging couch with embroidered gold fabric, the guy cut us a sweet deal, so it wasn’t bad at all. more
