I should warn you that I have a bias towards sheltered dogs. But sometimes they showcase even pure breds, in which the family just had to give up. This shelter feeds many of the animals through donated foods and to adopt my dog, I had to meet with a trainer, and pay $100. On the visit, they display sheets with the animals specs on it: temperament, weight, gender, age, history. You can schedule to meet and greet with a dog you have interest in and take your buddy home the next day if they are neutered/spayed already. That is the only slight problem. To prevent any future abandoned pups/kittens, it is policy to neuter/spay before you can take your pet home. Not choice there. Seattlehumane.org displays many of the animals and keeps its website pretty up to date. There is no pressure but really, you can tell the workers would like to provide the animals with a safe/ happy home.
