I am a San Antonio native and whenever I'm asked to take my out of towners to a local place, the Liberty Bar is first on my list. It's close to downtown (easy on/off the expressway) it has a great, but not over-the-top, feel. The fact that the building lists to one side a bit + they make their own bread + the most outstanding lamb-burgers on earth = a top ranking from my visitors. Beside the lamb burger, I recommend the poblano relleno - always a hit. For the American Bistro foodies out there - you'll like the menu, the specials and the desserts. My LA friends, my Austin friends, my Boulder friends and my San Francisco/Sonoma friends give it 2 thumbs up.
