Millennium Park is Mayor Daley's multi million dollar gamble that has apparently paid off handsomely. Several years late in opening, the millenium was practically forgotten when it opened.
But now we are all enjoying this new playground in Grant Park. Best to come in hot weather, especially if you are bringing the kids. Be prepared to be astounded in the wading pool.
Imagine 100 foot high video faces that spout water out of their mouths onto the heads of delighted, screaming kids and you have some idea why this place has been so wildly successful. Its really fun.
The Frank Geary pavilion is an absolutely amazing, exuberant piece of architecture that is just fabulous in its controversial display. You can hear free classical music concerts here by the top notch Grant park orchestra.
