Oswald Beach State Park has a slightly different approach than most of the traditional state parks. In order to play on the beach or camp, you have to hike down a steep trail. This keeps many visitors away, but for those who can manage the hike, it is well worth it. The campsites are rustic and few in number, but since most do not want to carry their gear down and up the trail it is usually easy to grab a great spot. The beach itself is gorgeous and known for its surfing. Once you get down the trail, the challenge doesn’t end. Debris and logs wash up in the storms and have to be navigated in order to enjoy the lush sand beyond.
Even though the initial passageway is difficult, the beach provides the visitor with a true escape into a lush private embrace.
