As a local, it isn't all that great. We took our out of state friends here. Although it is cheesy (to most of us) it is also fun when you're with people trying new things and are forced to go up and dance. The food is nicely portioned for those just trying and aren't used to eating "Hawaiian" food. For locals, the food is not enough. I enjoy poi and all the other fares like lomi lomi salmon but they only give you a smidgen. It was nice to take pictures with our friends with the beautiful background nature provided with palm trees and a setting sun. It was a great memento for our tourist friends and a good time for us to see them experience to a degree of what a luau is.
