Wonderful Museum 12/29/2005

I think that the Heard Museum is a great place to learn about what Arizona is all about. The rich history and heritage that it has to offer. While others are commenting on the Musuem as more of a reception location. I will comment on what it really has to offer as a Museum. This Museum offers a lot of wonderful visual exhibits that are both educating as well as interesting. The exhibits are set up to make you WANT to learn more! Some of the exhibits are so intriguing that I have left researching more about Native American heritage. Recently they have added some new and "modern" type of exhibites. There is a small theatre room where a film is played throughout the day that gives a quick small portion of Native American history. I was also pleased to see a demonstration on Native American cooking, It was very exciting to learn more about it as if it were an expensive delicacy , or learning how to cook like an Italian. While the cost of admission is somewhat high I can understand the need for such an admission to making sure it brings wonderful new exhibits to it's consumers. I was also happy to see that a museum about Native Americans is free to Native Americans. Now it looks like all that is left is to allow Native Americans to run a Native American Musuem which is run by Anglo-americans. The Heard Museum does an amazing job at giving a peek into the history and heritage of Arizona. more
